Half way through the metabolic reset as reviewed here

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-diet-plan-that-changed-my-life-in-three-weeks-metabolic-reset-7xffwwrzq

Had a shit day at work at end of week 1 so had a beer and a couple of gin and slims but apart from that have stuck to it and lost 10lbs so far. Worried slightly about how much I craved booze. Never a binge drinker more if a little and often but now thinking that’s probably worse as it’s very much a crutch. Love craft beer and have a fridge full of it in my home office which is currently locked

Not seen any of the sleep benefits, in fact has been the opposite. Going to get into some of the supplements and see if they help

I’m mid 50s and I’ve just joined a beginners kick boxing class. Surprising number of kids and women there too. Great little group.

Not sure what possessed me, but the ole legs are getting a little thinner and I guess I want to retain some definition and mobility as the years advance.

Sorry for the late reply, only just seen this.

A water fast is having nothing but water for that period. The benefits are it helps get rid of bloating & inflammation and also the mental clarity you get is unreal.

You can also shift 2-3kgs in that short period too.

Also, and I’m learning more about this, it is autophagy which is about cell renewal which can help prevent serious illness and disease.

I started taking a natural supplement last week called Berberine.

I’m only 3 days in on it and can already feel some benefits.

Anyone else dabbled in it?

What’s it taken for?

Been doing 100 press ups a day for Cancer Research for the whole of April. Started off by doing 4 x 25, then have gradually increased the reps and lowered the sets.

Am now doing 2 x 50.

I feel great and it’s a really quick and relatively easy way to maintain muscle mass (which begins to deteriorate after the age of 50). Will aim to continue doing as part of my morning routine from here on in.

Mostly weight maintenance & reduced sugar cravings for me.

I’m at my ideal weight of 77kg and would like to stay there.

So far I’ve had decreased appetite, no sugar or carb cravings and an increase in energy. Ideal to help with fasting.

I’ve not experienced this yet but it’s supposed to help after carb heavy meals and will regulate blood sugar levels so you miss out on the delight of the impending food coma.

It’s being promoted as anti ageing too but there’s another supplement called NMN which is supposed to really slow down signs of getting old.

That’s the anti aging part.

Looks interesting. I’m T1 diabetic so I’m always investigating supplements which might help.

Sorry to hear that mate, cant be pleasant.

Insulin resistance as I get older is a big worry to me and something I’m keen to do something about to avoid ever becoming T2 and its complications.

Cheers mate. It’s something I’ve lived with for nearly 30 years now. Had a ‘minor’ heart attack about 7 years ago. Other than that ( fingers crossed ) it doesn’t impact my daily life too much.

Pleased to hear that mate & hope you are managing it well.
