Dunno but my Mrs would be delighted to hear if there is, mine is super bad especially after a drink.
Mine is more clenching than grinding. Had a tooth removed from lower jaw as basically split it in half. Second tooth plugged with a temporary filling but will need a root canal. Been wearing a lower jaw mouth guard for a few months now but the damage was done through the chisel years. Hoping a healthier approach to life will relax me a bit more but no sign of that yet. Not sure what else you can do. According to my dentist, Covid lockdown sent the clenching/grinding through the roof. Everyone was at it. Stress, basically.
Yeah stress is a factor from what I read… I wasn’t sure if it might also be a legacy from the rave years?
Still Gurning After All These Years.
My mate who used to grind his teeth went to the dentist in the 90s and his dentist said to him -‘you’ve got raver teeth’!
What’s the water fast thing and what benefits do you see?
I’ve never had this, feeling left out now.
Same here - the biggest help was biting the bullet and getting a custom night guard - pricey but much more comfortable. Also brushing with a prescription high fluoride level toothpaste has made a huge difference in sensitivity.
Don’t bite bullets, dangerous! Also teeth hurty
I’m detecting a theme … I’m another terrible teeth grinder and it’s worst when I’m stressed. A mouth guard has made a difference though.
Oh god, me too
No teeth guard for me though. Sometimes I dont do it for ages, then it can be a few nights in a row. Its given me click jaw as a result. Never occurred to me it could be a rave side effect…
Jurassic Jaw
Looks like I’ll be adding a dentist to my ‘acid house retirement home’ plan then.
No more chewing… as to one more tune
maybe the rave jaw is real, or maybe it’s just age appropriate. either way - the wife says i “gnash” my teeth as i’m falling asleep, like a power chomp but only as i drift off into the depths. i’ve never noticed it, and i’ve never bitten my tongue, and i haven’t stomped my teeth into splinters, so i’d have no way of knowing that was what was happening if i was a bachelor.
I have a mate my age 50+ and he comes out with some crackers when off his head. He once said about they don’t really know about the long term effects of taking ecstasy, what if he long term effects are we all live to 200 years old… Lol
I ran into mate and fellow woodworker a couple of years ago. He couldn’t unclench his jaw. He was obviously in a bit of a state. He ground his teeth at night apparently too.
He was going through a very stressful time due to bereavement and a nasty dispute with a client.
I saw him for coffee on Friday and he was absolutely fine with things going well.
I’ll ask him what steps he took and report back.
And yes, we was indeed a raver. In fact he showed me photos of his recent trip to Amsterdam for his 50th. A boat trip with Mungo’s Hifi.
I suffer with bruxism. Dentist said mouth guards or muscle relaxant (Botox)
Apparantly my mate still suffers with the clenching/grinding but much better than it was. He said that stretches and yoga had been really helpful and recommended an online yoga session with Kassandra on Youtube. It’s free.
No laughing but I have done a week of pilates and am already feeling the benefits. We’ve signed up for this week trial with this teacher (her thing is doing the reformer type stuff without the bench) and it’s good. Fit for summer init.
