Here in Japan, I swear by Asahi Dry Zero.
Not sure if it’s available outside of Japan, but worth it if you can get it.

Summertime is here and I loved my gin ‘n’ tonics, growing a bit tired of tonic water and bitters- on the lookout for a good 0% gin. Any suggestions?
Most of what Lyre’s produces is pretty decent. Australian brand so should be stocked in Japan.

I wondered about the seemingly high cost of non alcoholic drinks bearing in mind the amount of tax/duty payable on alcohol. A quick google brought up this article which seems to address the issue if anyone else is interested.

Do zero percent spirits have the same bite or not? I can’t imagine they do?
I worked on a non-alcoholic bar at a festival a couple of years ago for a friend who produced his own botanical spirits called Bliss, being 0% ABV I drank quite a lot of the stuff and was pretty spaced out after a few, lovely stuff (although a bit chewy at the bottom of the glass). This is a good concept - mid-strength beer. I’ve tried the IPA and lager and both decent.

This is by far the best tasting AF beer I’ve had. Better than some actual beers!
I regularly drink 2 to 3 % craft beers from our local breweries, especially if I’m starting during the day, or if it’s after hours through the night. 100% helps with the hangovers and no real noticeable difference when Ur drinking in those longer sessions

New fave. This is absolutely mega - given that’s it’s a genuine 0.0% - refreshingly crisp pilsner and fantastic on a Sardinian beach

Good tip.
Had some of the 2.5% Warsteiner last night in Berlin after a couple of nights on the full whack 5% Berliner tackle that made me feel crap day after- but was delicious.
That and radler for the rest of week I think

Northern Monk’s 0.5% Faith is decent (edit - just noticed this is in the first post!) Discovered this when I bought it by accident as the can looks very similar to the normal Faith.
Also, was at Three Hills beer fest yesterday and had Beak Brewery’s Nolia which is 0.5% and worth a go if you see it. All their beers are nice though.

Does 0.5% count as non-alcoholic or does it become session ale? Feels like a touch too much for some reason. I want to try that if it counts.

I was there too in the evening. The Nolia is lovely, nice to have it on draught last night.
I’d heard about Jupiler from a mate who works for Harvey’s brewery and he reckoned it was the best zero lager he’d had.
I also tried a zero Kasteel Frambroise at amicro bar in Halifax a couple of weeks ago which was stunning. I was a fan of their 8% cherry one but that’s a thing of the past nowadays

I’ve sessioned this over long afternoon’s while playing at beak and I wouldn’t say I felt like i’d had a drink at all. Certainly no hangover! It’s a lovely drink but can feel a bit ‘syrupy sweet’ after half a dozen. Still better than most out there at the moment I reckon.
Another good one local to me is Burning Sky Low Life. Very nice indeed.

Having just done a bit of research on this it seems the average body will metabolise 0.5abv quicker than you can drink it. Which means that you’d have to really hammer it to register even a tiny amount of alcohol in a blood sample.
“ Research backs this up. A 2012 study at the University of Freiburg tested 67 participants who drank 1.5 litres of 0.4% ABV beer in one hour. The highest blood alcohol content (BAC) recorded was 0.0056% - 14 times lower than the English legal drink-drive limit of 0.08% and well below the 0.04% threshold where minor impairment might begin. Dr. Volker Auwärter, who led the study, stated: “In the mental and physical tests we conducted, there was no measurable impairment”
