Remixes that transcend the original into something even better and entirely different…a few classics come to mind, but I’m sure there are loads out there, so let’s hear em…
A few classics to start the dance …
Telex - Raised By Snakes (Maurice Fulton Remix) - Maurice turns the electropop original into some mad tribal broken beat monster
Chaka Khan - Ain’t Nobody (Hallucinogenic Version) - Frankie stretches Chaka Khan to the limits!
LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends (Harvey’s Mix) - I love the original but this definitely takes it somewhere different…
Could’ve picked any one of the Guv’s remixes, but this early one is a particular favourite…turning James’ bland indie anthem into a dubbed out Balearic dancefloor moment
Beamed in from some alternate Pan-African dimension where Sun Ra rules the world and white European guys never discovered trance. (Disclaimer; I’m a white european guy) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJjnAQLl9vQ
I haven’t heard every remix ever made (although I love a lot of the ones on this page), BUT I’m going to go out on a limb and call the Frankie Knuckles / Chaka Khan one as the greatest of all time
Speaking of which, and slightly off topic, although guess it’s a remix of a remix…heard this version of Mad Professor’s Bengali Dub of Sister Audrey that Sotofett has just done…hoping it sees the light of day. First track on this from the other week
