Soundtracks - recommend

‘My little Frenchman…’ great film eh… Le Grande Blue, Diva, Betty Blue, would have been my student dream triple bill at the Swiss Centre, maybe with Midnight Express thrown in with The Thing. In fact all of them have great soundtracks…

I guess the quality of the film is a contributary factor to ideas of perfection
I really like Vangelis’ soundtrack to The Bounty (1984) - story of the mutiny, starring Anthony Hopkins, and Mel Gibson. Some absolute gems.
It’s a good watch, but I wouldn’t say the film is a favourite of mine. Think its on Netflix if you want to test my theory.

Ah yeah. Happy Birthday! I knew we shared it somehow. Mine too. I thought it was Toby I shared it with but he’s the 14th.

Jonny Greenwood’s PT Anderson scores are all great, especially There Will be Blood.

The one for Inherent Vice is cool as well.

Amazing film and soundtrack

just picked up the Rocky III LP at a record fair for $10…it has ‘Reflections’ on there and Sly’s brother Frank singing on this:

Bill Conti also did some wonderful incidental music in the Karate Kid movies, number III especially, lots of oriental influences and wind instruments…those pieces didn’t make the LP version

My favourite soundtrack since the moment I heard it, Amelie.

This piece is so beautiful it does something to my soul. it can bring me to tears at times.

I love the closing scene so much,.
At the end when you see them riding around on the moped, that’s favourite bit of cinema for some reason. The combination of the music, how much fun they are finally having and the look of love of Amelie’s face make the scene magical to me.
