Sonically Genius Records…

Zee Germans get a lot of nods in this category.

Looking forward to hearing plenty of above plus totally agree re: moritz von oswald and pretty much all the rhythm and sound tracks. It’s not exactly niche but i always think Upside Down by Diana Ross sounds amazing on the sonics as well as being a boss tune

Lots from Koze to pick from

And I am very biased as a massive Creedence fan but Fogerty’s voice and the instrumental part of this gives me massive ‘sonic’ goosebumps (also my 18 month old daughters favourite record)

And the drums and vibe of this blow me away

Love CCR, John Fogerty has one of the all time great rock voices.

Was wondering when Kraftwerk would get a mention, it’s absolutely crazy the Man Machine LP was made in the late 70s, robots is one of the tracks I used to audition buying new monitors, the 2 bar intro riff has 4 bass notes at the end of the pattern to reinforce it, any speaker that can’t reproduce that was instantly dismissed, So ahead of their time. Masters of the craft undoubtedly.

Yeah just light years ahead of anyone.

This always sounds good. I’ve got a copy on a German Sony demo record :ok_hand:

The fact that they’re playing entire contrapuntal compositions in the left and right channels is :exploding_head:

My first electrophonic funk experience. Still sounds so good:

May have been posted before, but I find myself listening to dre’s chronic2001 instrumentals in full, at least once a year, every year for the last decade. Somehow it always sounds different, different layers, negative space creating phantom ghost sounds and frequencies

2001 or mezzanine is my go to test any monitors, headphones etc. sonically 2001 is still crisp, clear and surgical by the good doctor himself

I’ve played this twice since starting the ‘mobile Japan style listening system’. Always creates a moment.

I love playing this, sounds ridiculous, like getting new ears.

This sounds great at any volume, but loud and full range and maybe -6 is really heavy.

I found a mint copy of this last year at a record fair for less than a tenner, and it sounds incredible on my system. The production values are so high end, and the pressing/mastering is perfect.
