Small Claims Court

Had a wee next to Bill Nighy at the Pavilion restaurant on Poland Street in Soho.

Regularly see 80’ and 90’s indie musicians around my way as several live in the area but, keeping to the theme of the previous poster and his chance meeting with Bill Nighy, I stood next to Olympic shot putter Geoff Capes in a bloke’s toilets back in the early 80’s. He was the guest of honour at a my school fete, and did the opening speech and judged some prizes.

As it’s the the third time Mr Capes has appeared on this thread, I would say he’s now the forum’s resident celebrity.

Geoff Capes was at our local Petts Wood fete when we were ten. Must be big at the fete’s…

Got a “Nice shirt mate” from Billy Bragg at a recent event, for my Heavenly Social “SOCIALISM” shirt

I came home from walking the dog the other week and noticed that Dion Dublin was filming a ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ across the rd, I thought i’d go over for a nosey and possible selfie but by the time I put the dog inside the big man had gone.

Went to the Nisa local in Walthamstow and saw someone who looked very like Suggs having a pint outside The Village pub. Had another look when I came out and blow me down, it was Suggs. Broad daylight too.

I somehow still have my (late) 1994 Heavenly Socialism shirt, mostly because I only wear it when I’m up for the inevitable conversations and comments it provokes.

Best time was when I was at Paddington early on a Sunday morning, off for a walk in the country with a mate when this bloke with long hair bounds up to me and starts trying first bump me, going “yeah, nice one”. I assumed it was some guy who’d been up all night and next thing he’d be trying cadge fags off me, but it was actually the late Paul Cannell, who designed the Screamadelica logo and the little Heavenly bird. Lovely bloke.

Mr Richard D James at work today, seemed genuinely flumoxed an old git had recognised him, totally unassuming and nice. Meet your heroes.

You can usually find him in one of Londons boozers

Used to see him fairly regularly around Soho amd Fitzrovia.

Disappointing, in my head he’s permanantly roaming the rural areas of the UK in his modified tank blasting early 90s face melting hardcore breakbeat

I spent 15 years working for Labour so met all the big cheeses and all the celebs who donate to Labour. That ranges from Liz Dawn who played Vera Duckworth to Elle “The Body” McPherson. I did a few election broadcasts with famous people in them. I had to give Martin Freeman comms advice after the Mail did him over about his kid going to private school following the film he did for us. Nicest one was David Harewood. Lovely bloke. Worst was Lord Robert Winston who once called me up and just said “you’re a cunt” and then put the phone down.

He was off to Italy for a gig, flying commercial. Had a hole in his T Shirt if that helps?

Did you ever meet Dennis Skinner? As a total outsider to UK politics, at least I enjoyed his blackrod jokes…

Yes … sadly one of the rudest politicians I ever met.

I think meeting Liz / Vera is ‘Big Claims Court’

Used to work at HoP every summer when I lived in London and Manchester, so met a good few politicians. Mo Mowlam was the nicest I met. She used to join us for a non-jazz smoke.

My dad was heavily involved with Scottish Labour back in the day, so know, or met, a lot of the old guard like Gordon Brown, Donald Dewer, John Smith, etc.
