Interesting topic for a podcast. Last night I’ve played the episode with Buschawcka, since I have respect for the years of work he’s put in the scene. Didn’t find anything revelatory in there, but he was honest and told his life story with the lows and the highs. Going to play this one as well.
Finished off the MF Doom series whilst taking the hound out earlier. Its done well and some really interesting tales of his later life.

I had a listen to this having been an avid Dahl reader as a kid. Great yarn. Interesting all the handwringing and moralising about ‘can we still read Dahl to our kids even though he was anti-semitic and grumpy at times’. Pretty good dissection of the issues around seperating art from artist and all that. I was pleased that their conclusion was largely ‘it’s up the individual’, given that I never want to be told how to think or act about anything. Cancel culture has never felt quite right to me. Act how you like but when/how/why did people start insisting that others behave identically to them.
I also wasn’t aware that publishers have been revising and sanitising books to the extent that they have, for instance the words black and white both removed from Dahl’s catalogue without exception. Sounds bananas to me, but commercial imperatives no doubt, keep the units selling at all costs, Makes sense from a capitalist point of view, art be damned.

Had a nice chat to him once at a wedding, he was step father to the bride who I knew, didn’t realise who he was until after a few moments racking my brain to think where I knew his voice from. Seemed nice. 8/10 Giant Peaches.
