Anyone got/had/used a Moog Grandmother or Matriarch?

Looking to upgrade next year and scouting the options.

Watched a video on YouTube last night, some guy dubbing with this as an insert/send FX. Brilliant.

However, not £600 brilliant . I think I’ll have to settle for the Audio Thing plugin version!

I have the Audio Thing plug in and it’s ok. I find filters one of the effects where plug ins are lacking a bit tbh. Still a decent one for the price.

There’s a slightly cheaper alternative out of stock…

And the Benidub Filtro, discontinued…

Benidub had a filtro in their b-stock gear for a while. Might be worth checking there or emailing them to ask if they are going to release more. Price-wise, I think they were in the same ball-park as the Westfinga above. I really like their gear (Benidub). The dub siren is pure joy. Has us in stitches. Though my cat might not agree.

I just checked and it’s not there anymore.

Yeah that dub filter was their concession to the Alborosie dub station being canned wasn’t it? Good plugin that

Which Dub Siren do you have the one with Echo?

I got the echo unit and their siren as two separate units so that I can use them separately. But you’re right, they do a dub siren combined with an echo in one unit.

I got one of these:

But they also do this, which strays further into the weird and wonderful soundcosm! :

Not sure if this is of any use. It is an iPhone / iPad app with loads of sirens / fx sounds.

I think I had that on my old Ipad 2!

I dug out my old Blues Harps and recorded some drenched in echo and it got me a thinking…

Anyone got any experience with Melodicas? I quite fancy one to record with

I’ve bought cheap ones for about £20 for my kids and they sounded brilliant to me. I loved the Primal Scream and Adrian Sherwood album and a cheap melodica gives you that sound. Just need a good door bell sound too and you can almost recreate Echo Dek.

Hopefully you have a microphone to record with.

The kids ended up breaking them by stepping on them as they leave everything on the floor always.

Yeah have a nice mic. I’m torn between an old Hohner Soprano or one of the newer ones. Suzuki make decent ones apparently but they are coin and I’ll probably not use it often enough to justify

Lee Perry would go for the one that was closest to a kids toy. Augustus Pablo would go for the one that sounded best. You’re at a dub crossroads. Choose wisely; there’s no turning back….

I’m not sure about putting an old melodica into my mouth, your breath does condensate in there as you play, it gets pretty disgusting.

Anyone have any recommendations for drummer plugins? If you fancied some natural sounding drum sounds with an an emulated kit. What’s good?

Addictive drums looks decent
