Oh wow. Always wanted them to make a VCV version of AC but this is even better.

Love the sound of the 626. That mod looks very useful too. Nice studio.

Lovely sounds but both the older one and the new remake are quite expensive. Should be able to get the Van Halen Jump sound from other synths as it’s such a classic sound so it’s been included as a factory patch in others I think. Might not be the same though, I can appreciate. And for the general synthwave sound direction you could look at more lo-fi options. Just my thoughts on doing things on the cheap, I know it’s not the same as having the original…

Directed more at @ulterior. But I love talking synths with anyone.

Sheeeit !!! Cautionary tale
Only used one once… helluva box to master (I didn’t come close to even understanding it properly)

Still cringe about it. Bless the days when your manuals had a page for each pot and it’s parameters and no clues given about how you might use it in the real world. No Stimming back then.

Thanks, appreciated

You are probably not going for the Van Halen Jump sound, haha. I think I was having a beer when I posted that. I have children so I spend a lot of time on my phone, indoors, refreshed.

Whoa! I have some space left that I had plans for, but I might need to make some more!

Can it do Hypnosis by Psychotropic?! That was a CZ101 I think?

Have a two questions around how to get started firstly, with ripping copies of my vinyl to digital and secondly, how to go about recording a demo of a live mix?

Have been buying records for home listening, since uni, but recently been wanting to expand on this and explore putting together a mix to pitch for a radio show and DJ’ing.

I currently only have one 1210, friends have offered to lend me another deck and mixer and have been playing around with virtual DJ in the interim.

Other than that, what other equipment would I need? Someone recommended the Focuswrite Scarlett 2i2 Soundcard and the software Audacity. Any other suggestions?

Or would it be better to go into a studio to record a mix? (Heard RVM in Deptford are good, but think they’re now shut?)

Coming at this with very little technical background, so super simple explanations are welcomed! I also don’t have a ton of money to spend on the set up, so any low/mid price or second hand suggestions also encouraged!

Thanks in advance, feel like this is a super supportive forum to ask for help!

Hi.

If you want to record in a studio you can check out Pirate. They have studios across London.

Their studios have 2xPioneer CDJ2000 and a Pioneer mixer ready to go and the recording process is super easy. All you need is a USB of digital tunes to take with you. It is ~£35 for a couple of hours. Although it’s not much use unless your music is digital.

In terms of recording a mix, or ripping vinyl, Audacity is free and easy to use. There’s a whole thread on here about digital DJing with lots of recommendations for devices to connect your analog mixer to your laptop. I use an iRig Stream which is pretty cheap and effective.

But you also say you’ve only got one deck.

If your main source of music is on vinyl, personally I’d take my laptop and iRig to a mate with two decks and a mixer and record my set that way. Or if you aren’t beat mixing you can just record one tune after the other into Audacity and edit out the gaps afterwards.
