Take it to Rock & Soul in Manhattan and they’ll blow it up for you for free.

Yep, agree with the above about the Omnitronic - and yes, I miss a crossfader but you do get used to life without it.

Anyone looked at a decent (and affordable)effects unit to go with?

My Xone23 conversion kit arrived this week from MC Audio Solutions. I’ll hopefully get the work done in the next week or so and report back.:+1:

Hey @LazySimon how did you get on with the Xone23 kit?

A mixed picture, if you’ll excuse the pun!

The kit arrived, faceplate looks great, knobs are ok, the pots looked/felt a little flimsy but what do I know?
I arranged for a friend at F1 to do the work for me in exchange for me making him some tiny bass bins (i mean tiny), got the mixer back and the channel one pot has problems. It outputs a signal at zero and also has a dead spot at around 3 or 4. I was a bit disappointed to say the least. My guy said he tested it, the guy at MC audio said he tested it. :man_shrugging:t2:.

Anyway, he said he’d replace the pot. That was about 3 or 4 weeks ago so I chased him up. Just a couple of days ago 2 new pots arrived. Much sturdier look and feel, Alpha brand which my F1 guy recognised. So now I have to go through the conversion procedure again.
Hopefully all will be well and i’ll be able to give a positive report after a thorough testing session.
Apologies for chapter and verse!!:joy::+1:

That’s really helpful, thank you. I’ve got my mixer set into the custom made unit with my decks so it’s an Xone 23 sized space. I’ve been thinking about modifying it to rotary. Look forward to hearing how it works and sounds once you’ve got it fully sorted.

Hello Charlie,
I got the two Alpha pots fitted by my soldering mate. All seemed well. Had a few mates over for a listening session and stone me, one channel was leaking again. Very disheartening. Same problem as before. MC Audio said he’d sold hundreds and never had a problem.
I taught myself how to use a multimeter (Youtube😂) and how to test pots.
I unsoldered the Alphas and made a series of short vids showing that 1 of each pair of pots supplied was indeed faulty. MC Audio sent a single replacement Alpha. I girded my loins and heated up a soldering iron. Job done.
Had an Actual Gig a couple of weekends ago abd all was well. Sounded very good. Small 4 point Funktion One F101 system with a BR118. Lovely. The Alpha pots feel really good. Hopefully my soldering holds up. I wouldn’t want to bang tge mixer to hard😂.
In the end all seems well but it was a very frustrating journey and I can’t believe i’m the only one to have got two sets of dodgy components :man_shrugging:t2: :+1:

Thanks for that mate!! Sounds like they got there in the end but sometimes when you want something done, you gotta do it yourself :joy: :joy: :joy:

i have a wedding that i have to run sound for this weekend and opted to take my rane with me for it’s dual XLR mic inputs. so i brought this lil’ party boy out of retirement to hook up to the dj console. was going to post it here a while back, never did, so here it is:

it doesn’t sound quite as good as my rane 2016, but my rane doesn’t have the expansion unit so the EQ options on this guy are much better. also, the installation options are also way better than my rane (i can swap the output panel from the “top” (as seen in this photo) to straight-out-the-back if i wanted to rack mount units directly above it.

if anyone else has or wants to rotary these out - the part number for the rotary channel faders is DF-25 - make sure you have a legit PMC-25 and not the PMC-250 as that faceplate doesn’t allow for the drop/swap of the channel faders.

I like these! Old school, well built, sound pretty good.

I used to have one of these. Good memories

I could only find those rotaries in Japan at some stupid price (I think I linked to them somewhere) where did you get yours?

Edit: It was up this thread doh, yours look like short throw faders, so not compatible, but if you have a source as my crossfader leaks a bit.

years ago i got them at platinum (which is where i worked at the time), but i wouldn’t expect them to have any left - i’d be impressed if they did!

Cheers I’ll give them a bell, maybe they might have a lead…

Picked up the Subzero mixer and pretty happy with it. Solid build, decent sound and good fun. Not bad at all for 200 notes.
Just need to get my other 1210 fixed…

I have been ducking into this thread for a while now, as price is important for me at the moment, I have just pulled the trigger on the Subzero. I have had a very old, very crappy Numark that gets pulled out if I want to have a mix, and I am not able to even consider the eye watering prices for a Condessa, this ticks all the boxes.

I have used a rotary a few times, all have been in venues already, so no real solid experience with them as yet. At this price, I’m very happy to dip my toe in the waters of the rotary thanks to this thread.

Even the shipping to Australia is very civilised.

Also, does anyone know of anyone doing wooden trim kits apart from omni, those logo’s embossed in the sides are not nice.

I made a pair of nice Walnut sides for my TRM mk3. I am a furniture maker so had the off cuts in stock and the wherewithal to do it. That said, it really isn’t too tricky and you could probably do it yourself. Otherwise ask a local furniture or kitchen workshop to cut you a couple of bits the right size. I bet you’ve got access to some lovely tropical hardwoods down under.
I drilled and counter drilled the holes to bolt the sides on to the existing holes in the mixer but you could easily use double sided carpet tape to stick them on if that was a bit of a pain.
I’d offer to do you a pair but I imagine the shipping would be very high.
Don’t hesitate to ask for more advice, pics, dims etc.

Tripping out on the ‘hole’ and the layers of the ply, looks like some wooden event horizon, nice work.
