Modded or mid-price rotary mixers

great. how does it sound?

I’m spoiled because I have a Clubman which has basically identical architecture to a Bozak etc. It’s not as loud or clear as that but it’s both loud and clear and moreover the level of control over your records is hard to match at the price point especially when you’re more interested in blending a variety of genres and tempos than beat-to-beat matching. It definitely inspires creativity and had me pulling out things like ELO “Strange Magic” and Gil Scott Heron and Brian Jackson album cuts. Absolutely a catalyst for creativity.

Thanks for the review! Hows the isolator??

So good that I must resist the temptation to be all of the isolator abusing DJs I make fun of all the time. That said I was able to totally pull the top and mids off a stax-volt record and get a clean baseline and it shocked me

Not physically I hope :sunglasses:

So after watching a couple youtube reviews on the the Omnitronic, I saw in the comments that gear4music.com have a this mixer. Apparently its exactly the same inside as the omnitronic just with the crappy Subzero logo on the front. Its also over £100 cheaper too! Any one else come across it? I was all set to get the Omintronic off Juno but now I think im gonna go for this for £200.

The Subzero arrived today … and … it sounds great! Real warmth and clarity compared to my mates A & H zone 23 ive had on loan- which sounds abit flat in comparison. Isolator is super fun to play with too, only negative is that the highs are abit harsh when turned up loud but can be easily sorted with the isolator and eqs. Feels well built and solid, not bad for £200!! Saw that some people had the odd problem with the omnitronic so splashed out £18 on a 5 year warranty. Now wheres my sharpie so i can colour in that crappy subzero logo??

that’s good to hear! the price of the subzero seems too good to be true, but i’m considering it.

I bought one as well for another set up I’m building. If it’s 70% as good as the Omnitronic at that price it’s a no-lose.

I mean its identical inside so why not??

A quick tip for anyone after the Omnitronic. Just picked one up off Juno for £285. Message the on site chat support team asking for a cheaper price and they will knock 20 odd quid off. Looking forward to getting it tomorrow!

My omnitronic lives in the country and it’s been a minute since we made it out here. Arrived yesterday, got the kids in bed and disappeared to the basement with a bag full of records. I have to say that the more I play with this thing the more I feel that it provides more value for the cost than anything else you could add to a set up. I’m still getting used to not having a crossfader but when you get a good blend and want to hold it and tweak it the knobs are reaaaaaaaally great. I love it when people make products that take formerly unobtainable equipment and bring it to the masses.

Weirdly I was looking for the thread this morning to ask how it was going, might sell my Vestax and get one. Bueno.

Do it man. It’s just so much fun.
