The Tenaglia one was a fun one… We left to go shake n finger pop (I think) before the end : )
Great memories everyone ![]()
I’d like to say I have great memories of all those nights at the Drum Club …
I’ve just ha long forgotten memory from The Vox pop into my head - from a little later when it was Substation South.
Did you know that’s where Horse Meat Disco started as a Thursday nighter?
James used to come to my Sundays at Plan B so when he launched HMD (by himself I think) I went along to support - his guest was Lady Miss Kier!
She was brilliant, but unfortunately it was not well attended and all I can remember is bouncing around the empty dancefloor with James and about 5 other people!
Remember hearing Theo at Plan B on a Sunday night - was that one of yours Tim? At a guess 2001 ish? Maybe 2000. Sound system was dire and he played Kajagoogoo ![]()
I think you might be mixing venues up! Plan B didn’t open 'til end of 2002 and was Function One’s showcase venue so sound was never an issue.
I did about 4 years of weekly Sundays from when it opened and did manage some pretty special yank guests for the price of an extra night’s hotel (Daniel Wang, Adam Goldstone, Q-Burns etc) but sadly never Theo. Pretty sure he played a RBMA party there end of 2014 about 6 months before it closed.
I definitely went there on a Sunday so must be thinking of a different venue for Theo. Early 2000s are a slight blur these days ![]()
Belter!
Gets a mention in Robs great write up of a lost week
Now thats a classic
Re the illicit building thru the arch on Charing Cross Rd that was variously a weed shop/shebeen/club (What Are You Reading thread)… I said I’d dig out some flyers from the parties we did there in 2003 when it was Rouge.
Great artwork by Leo Zero (nee Elstob). No idea who the ‘Special US Guest’ was. I bumped into Pete BBE the other day and he didn’t remember doing the parties at all!
Cracking line-ups there
