Forgot I had kept so many, was chuffed when I found them, brought back some happy memories

Great sound system in there, never really had a great atmosphere when I went, Larry’s spot was a bit of a let down, don’t think it really translated. I seem to remember he lost all his records on way over which might explain it, but so much anticipation led to it being a bit of a damp squib to me at least. Would love to hear it again but have never come across a recording.

Didn’t Harvey have to lend him the records for his set?
Think i heard that in a Harvey interview.

Very possible I guess, all pre-internet, think I heard after the fact in Quaff or somewhere.

I’m assuming this is in that last run of gigs that were super spotty. I have one from Japan that’s okay and then his birthday set at shelter is FLAMES he must have been on the right combo that night. But Victor Rosado and Kenny Carpenter during that same time period were on all star status (I actually have never heard a bad set from Victor ever).

Yes that’s the story I’ve heard a few times.

In with all these flyers I’m finding phone numbers girls names, addresses to after party’s. I loved the summers in London back then. We would travel from Ireland and stay with anyone that we might know from back home and stay till our money ran out…

My flyer collection disappeared in the mists of time. The only one I’ve got left is this one from a party we did in Brighton c1994.

Reading it now I’m not sure what we meant by ‘first U.K. DJing appearance together’.

The XPress2 lads? Surely not.

Or XPress2 and the Dust Brothers? Quite possibly.

It was definitely the first time I (Tom F) had DJd with XPress2 but I don’t think that would’ve been worth mentioning….

Anyway I love the image on the flyer and it was a buzz to play the big arch at the Zap. If only I’d dropped my Massive Attack / Plastikman blend, the world might be a different place!

1991 from memory, I think all we had heard over here were legendary stories from the Garage, I’d never heard a tape for instance, so the anticipation was high. All I seem to remember was tales of sound effects , trains/rainfall/thunder, lights off, amazing blends, so was all a bit flat.
