That is very cool. A real time capsule. Love that two of the genres are “devotional” and “gospel”, maybe not altogether wrong, depending on who you ask.

10 Years since we lost the greatest of them all and just over 20 since this Easter Party - the 5th time Frankie played Indulge.

He loved playing in front of those stained glass windows at Mass as illustrated for our flyer by Veronica Palmieri

Did you organise that gig (at Mass) with Fingers Inc with live vocals back in the nineties by any chance ?

No. I put Robert Owens on there a few times singing and DJing but not billed as Fingers Inc, although funnily enuf it was his manager who first put us on to the venue back when it was still council run so it’s very poss they did a gig there. Back then it just had a reggae night happening - we used to bung the caretaker an envelope for the keys!
I did put Larry Heard on at Bar Rumba in the 00s tho which was a great honour

Yeah that must by the night I went to. I was out in Brixton a lot (my mate lived on coldharbour lane) and ended up at Mass by happenchance. Heard Robert Owens sing “ bring down the walls” I was absolutely floored as I had the album and those guys just seemed a million miles away… The crowd seemed largely unaware who he was, as was the friend I went with but I was absolutely amazed. What a night. I can clearly remember it

Must be one of these then…

1996 when it was still part of the Brix Theatre, with Jerry Dammers playing in the basement…

or 1998 but I expect you’d remember Harvey in the other room!

twice in 2000

I went to most of these - always great music and vibes. Mass was such a good venue. I lived in Clapham/Brixton mid 90s to mid 2000s so it was a very regular haunt. Good times.
