I’m a complete sucker for 6/8 soft rock, don’t stop, get it right next time etc etc

Got very fond memories of John Peel dropping this slow-burning bomb as the crowd waited for Mudhoney on the main stage at a rain-sodden Reading Festival in 1992. It had been number one in the UK Top 40 that year. A mass, unlikely singalong started up, and out came the sun. Ridiculous, magical stuff.

A bit of classic Spanish cheese & an anthem for the Scotland Squad (that said, c’mon England on Friday :slightly_smiling_face:)

I don’t know why but this record actually makes me feel a little bit sick, as do all of Abbas records, Jolene by Dolly Parton and (Ghost) Riders In The Sky by Johnny Cash. Must be due to some weird
buried childhood issues.

I need to think of a few more for the top 10 thread.

I have the same feeling with Abba. They were played so often everywhere that I really struggle with practically every record they ever made except for this little gem that I was not familiar with until Erol Alkan played it on one of his scarce, but fantastic radio 1 shows.

Wasnt a big fan of this track at the time but over the years I have grown to love it (this and the other mix). Also never knew it had a video!

I hates this when it came out, I remember being in work mocking it when it came on the radio.
About 10 years ago there was a just for fun DJ battle iin town and the idea was you just bought to the battle records you had found in a charity shop that week.
I found double copies of this (the track I hated) for 10p each and thought it would be fun to cut them up in my routine.
I got home, played the track to work out how I was going to use it and to my suprise found I actully like the track now, and like it a lot!
I came second in the DJ battle (I really won though I tell you).

Talking of ABBA. This Disconet remix of Lay All Your Love On Me is a winner at the right moment. Optimo dropped it peak time and the place went mad. Pitch it down a bit from its 135bpm. Big at The Saint, apparently.

Yeah heard optimo play that a few years ago. Never been a fan of it but it did sound pretty epic to be fair

Some of those Saint records…they totally work in the context and must have sounded amazing in that space. I love this Jim Burgess mix which features among many other things this cheese-bomb:

It made perfect sense at the time. More to do with my own state rather than the record no doubt.

I woke up with this in my head this morning. In an effort to try and stop it cycling around in my head I’m going to leave it here.

I can’t remember what the night was but they used to play it at the Zap Club every time. Always brought the netting down.
