Last song of the Life

This for me. Probably my favourite song of all time but a 2 minute long ambient version with all the emotions. Don’t really want people stood about too long as I will definitely put money behind the bar

My best friend died yesterday. She was only 50. She had cancer.

Music was such a huge part of our lives together, we’d talk about it all the time. A week ago, the last time I saw her, she told me what music she wanted at her service. I said I’d make sure she got what she wanted.

I’ve just been asked by her family if she discussed this with me and I told them her three choices, one of which was Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence. I got a polite response asking if there were any chilled tunes she’d have liked instead, which I’m interpreting as code for “too much”. As a compromise, I’d like to propose the Harmonium mix.

TP family, can anyone please help me out with a decent rip of Enjoy the Silence Harmonium mix? Thank you

The Robert Wyatt version is probably my favourite cover. Have this down to play as people walk out.

That’s a great one. I thought of doing that, but unfortunately not everyone likes Robert Wyatt and it’s something to consider. My grandmother loved French classical music. When she passed, my brother arranged a piece by Ravel for us to play together at her service. Her children were outraged that we’d chosen something “slow” and “mournful” (um, it’s her memorial service) and we had to stick something in they approved of. Oh well…

It’s wonderful that you are there to help meet the family’s need and also honour your friend. Sorry for your loss, you are a great friend.

My Dad died a few weeks ago (he was 88, held on longer than expected) so I have had to pick out some music for the funeral.
He was Italian and ive not been able to remember any of a handful of Italian songs or artists from the 50s/60s he mightve wanted (got on to his tablet but it hadnt been used for ages and couldnt access his YouTube history). Bit of a shame but ive decided just to pick something nice and appropriate.
Anyway, theres a bit in the middle where there will be a slide show of photos so i went with this to accompany it

I think you can just write in the order of service ‘it was Mike’s express wish that everyone just sit the fuck down and let it play to the end’

Thank you. Had been on the cards for a while so wasnt a huge shock. If anything theres a sense of relief as his health wasnt going to improve and no one wants to see someone in pain or discomfort have to endure it longer than necessary.

Totally understand that. I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what my friend went through. I mourn never being able to see her again, not that she passed. That was a relief
