Ahh that’s a shame. He pioneered quite a few moves, especially footwork and his style was his own.

Roy Haynes, a cornerstone of Jazz and one of my heroes. Glad to gave seen him play live and to have shaken his hand. Lived to be 99 - what a life!

(Also frequently in the best dressed men lists in several mags…dude had style)

Producer Shel Talmy. Behind some of the hardest sounding records of the Sixties and arguably the creator of the British Mod sound

oooof man i hope not. i’ve loved that guy’s records forever.

i think i put the track “depth charge” on the demo mixtape that got me hired for my first club gig.

here’s one that stayed in the bag for years - not one of the more well remembered JSK records, but so totally effective and playable, even now.

Such sad news. We’d just been talking about him last week. This was the first record I bought by him. But definitely not the last. RIP.

The Depth Charge lp will be getting a well overdue spin tomorrow

And there’s loads of material I don’t know. His excellent street photography was certainly mentioned here too

Loved Depth Charge, a genuine originator. 55 is no age to go. Really sad news.
