His autobiography is incredible if you haven’t read it. He’s led an incredible life…

I sometimes wonder if this George Benson album was when he figured out the pop game… You can imagine him thinking ‘ok this is great with George but what if we make it pop’ and then they did it all over again with Michael Jackson and it was enormous…

I mean what a gorgeous version of the song anyway. So beautifully produced.

One of my faves of his productions, still goosebumps when the choir come in, should be twice as long.

Q went on record stating MJ plagiarised State of Independence for Billie Jean:

You worked with Michael Jackson more than anyone he wasn’t related to. What’s something people don’t understand about him?
I hate to get into this publicly, but Michael stole a lot of stuff. He stole a lot of songs. [Donna Summer’s] “State of Independence and “Billie Jean.” The notes don’t lie, man. He was as Machiavellian as they come.

that’s a lot of great singers, and dyan cannon.

juuust kidding, can’t make fun of dyan cannon around here, she’s a west seattle legend.

My parents gave me this album for Christmas when I was 14, mainly as I was addicted to “Love x love”. Hearing the rest of the album was entering a world of utter beauty to my young ears: shimmering, groovy pop, which started me on a journey that’s lasted a lifetime… What an amazing man; what an incredible life and a near peerless legacy.
