Oh no, it’s so awful.

Roli Mosimann whose production work I knew of with The The, That Petrol Emotion and New Order, and as a member of Swans

RIP Roli. Used to love TPE and the Young Gods stuff.

In case you’re wondering what New Order he did, he produced the b-side of ‘World In Motion’

RIP Toto Schillaci.
Italian striker and one of the stars of Italia 90.

He was the epitome of Italia 90.

What a great World Cup that was!

Rest in Peace.

Italia 90 was the balearic World Cup.

Really good African and South American teams, flair Eastern Europeans in Hagi and Stojkovic, Paul Gascoigne, the Irish,
“No Alla Violenza”, great kits and “World In Motion.”
Possibly the last one that was accessible and not over commercialised.

Had some mates who made a snap decision to go to the semi final in Turin. Drove from Plymouth, camped in public parks and paid on the gate. Unthinkable now.

82, 86 & 90 all lay claim to the balearic world cup :grinning: 90 edged it in music, but the 80s had grainier flootage and Socrates

Hard to disagree, Mexico '86 was first vague WC memory but Italia '90 was the proper deal. Still have the sticker book and Ladybird team guide somewhere!

There’s a good documentary I am watching about Italia 90, it’s on Amazon Prime. Mixes in the politics and the event. Hooligans etc.

I loved that tournament and had a VHS about all the goals. Had no idea of the politics or that England group games were on Sardinia because of our fans.

I used to go to a Sicilian barbers in bondi Junction back in 91/92 the shop was like a shrine to Schillaci.

Cameroon were great at that World Cup,

That’s sad. They were always the more interesting end of the minimal wilderness years.
