saw that Alain Delon passed away. Always had the best wardrobe. My mum will be mourning tonight.
My parents too
Cinematic & style achievements aside, I can never hear his name without thinking of the wry chorus of the massive Soviet/Russian perestroika-era hit by seminal band Nautilus Pompilius “Alain Delon…doesn’t drink eau-de-cologne”.
Hadn’t come across his music till this week. Something bitter-sweet about finding someones music once they’ve died. On the one hand it’s a shame I couldn’t appreciate them whilst they were alive, on the other it’s nice that their legacy lives on through their music.
Same except for me it’s “Balada do Louco” by Mutantes that has the phrase “If they are beautiful, then I’m Alain Delon” (rough translation).
stuck with this in my head all day yesterday.
I liked Sven he had a charm about him.
Sven-Goran Eriksson dies: Former England manager passes away aged 76 - BBC Sport
Yep, just listening to TalkSport now and they are remembering him with different guests talking about him.
he seemed to have a great attitude to life, quite balearic lol.
Easily their best album
Seemed a lovely man. Watched the prime film on his life on Saturday, its very good.
In his short stint at Notts County there were lots of strories of him being out in town & middle age women flashing their boobs at him in restaurants & ‘parties’ at his penthouse flat
Friends of ours have the gym in the apartment block on the river , the nicest man going they always said .

Just spotted that on instagram. Very sad
some of my first musical memories are from the brasil 66 album “equinox” - i know that record inside and out. one of the first records i was allowed to put on and play on my dad’s turntable (probably because it was already a lil’ scratched). that album (same copy!) was my go-to for when my kid was a baby and i had to bounce-dance her around the room to get her to sleep.
there’s so many great stories about sergio - what a hero. RIP indeed.
RIP to a great one. Growing up our Brazilian football coach would have us practice footwork to “Mas que nada”. There was a great two-part series on him in Wax Poetics a few years ago. I know it’s a Stevie cover but have always loved his version of “The Real Thing” (and the cover of the record with doctor Pele clownin’)
Did anything ever sound as sweet as ‘Righteous Life’ ?
Saw Sergio for the first and only time just last year. He had a cracking band and I believe his wife was one of the backing singers. He was in flying form, I remember being struck by how much energy he had for someone in their early 80s as he was blazing through one classic after another. RIP to a true legend.
