Gutted. What an incredible bassist
Thats far too young. If I had one band to go back and see at the height it would have been them. Pre Morrisey turning etc… A ridiculous band
Me too!
This gig is amazing, barely a dropped note the whole gig between Marr and Rourke
That’s great, thanks.
Smiths are a band I never got into at the time but have grown on me massively in retrospect. I read Jonny Marr’s autobiography a few years ago which was really good and made me reassess.
Just because…
Touching tribute from Morrissey. Beneath all the nonsense, there’s still a heart
Agree, just read that
Surprisingly lovely I thought although maybe a little dig at Marr - the “manufactured” bit.
RIP. Got into them as a moody teenager drawn to M’s lyrics, stayed for the music. I could listen to the interplay between Rourke & Marr all day long - mindblowing. This has always been a favourite - I just listen to the intro over and over…
Pop perfection.
Such a shame.

Great bassline on this one, probably The Smiths at their ‘funkiest’
“A crack on the head is what you get for not asking & a crack on the head is what you get for asking”
I read somewhere that he & Johnny were just 23 when The Smiths split.
All those great records & they weren’t even 24 before it was all over.
Money is a great book.
I remember reading it in the 90s and one of the characters lived in the same tiny cul de sac in Shepherds Bush as we did (Keith Grove)
Tina Turner… what a life. RIP
with the amount of work she put into her stage shows, i figured she’d outlive us all.
RIP!
