Raymond Briggs.

Beautiful illustrations obviously and his stories always had a touch of melancholy and poingnancy.

Love his books to this day, a literary giant. The Tin Pot Foreign General and The Old Iron Woman is an amazing piece of work given its intended audience and subject matter.

Just heard on the radio that it’s 15 years ago today since Tony Wilson passed.

There will never be another one like Anthony H Wilson. “Mr Manchester”

Sad news. Still remember that track absolutely blowing me away the first time i heard it watching Silence of the Lambs.

Yep same. The film and song are etched into my brain. What a voice!

Ever clocked how much the 12" goes for on Discogs? It’s always been pricey - will only increase now.

Even the (disappointingly short) 3 minute version on the 2013 reissue is pricey.

Krikor edit on this from Pilooski is good. Also seems to be pretty expensive nowadays (for an edit).

i used to play it off of the “married to the mob” soundtrack until i got this one. this sounds good, doesn’t have any silliness to the edits, and dependably works.

Very sad to hear. The Filmworker documentary about him was great. What an extraordinary person.
