RIP. Love Clannad, their 80s folk+DX7 sound was so unique and atmospheric.

Gutted to hear that Andy Kershaw has just left us (at 66). Listened to him religously in the 90’s when his Radio 1 show dovetailed with John Peel’s. He got me into all sorts of African music (Tabuley Rochereau, Franco etc) plus lots of ‘world’ music in general. RIP.
Abiding memory is of Bhundu Boys sessions! RIP.
Yup, so many great sessions!
Nice piece by Gig from the Golden Lion on Andy Kershaw. Hadn’t realised he lived in Todmorden.

Just had a lovely evening with 3 of my oldest and closet friends, which we do every year to remember our pal who died during COVID. He was a very troubled Human being who struggled with addictions. His mum found him dead on the kitchen floor in the morning. It was revealed that he had taken a large cocktail of various drugs, including fentanyl. We will never know if it was suicide or he just fell and cracked his head.
Earlier today I finally found a piece of music I’ve been searching for for years. It was the last track ever that John Balance and Peter Christopherson made together as Coil. It was also the last track they ever played at their last gig, in Dublin 2004, before Balance tragically died a few weeks later.
Keith (JD Twitch) introduced me to the song (and Coil) and I am forever grateful to him for that alone. A transcendental and painfully beautiful track.

…and of course the man responsible this cosmic monster:
this is pretty cool too:

I thought it was Bob Mortimer’s Dog!
