aw man, one of the greatest actors ever. THX-1138 is arguably my favorite film, and it wouldn’t have been much without him as THX.
He was old school hollywood. Not many more like him around…
One of the greatest of the greats. My father was (in fact still is, despite being into his nineties himself) a talent agent, and in fact represented Duvall (“Bobby”) for many years, so I knew him a bit when I was younger. He was an exceptionally nice man, something it’s nice to be able to say of a famous figure these days. Not sure he ever gave a subpar performance, and sometimes he crops up in things I’d forgotten he was in and steals the show. I rewatched “Network” recently for the first time in a while and there he was, crushing it as ever. It’s possible he’s the absolute standout in Apocalypse Now too, which, when you think about it, really says something.
Thought he was very good as the cop in Falling Down
I watched Network not long ago… It’s so great. Bet your dad has some good stories…
He does, although it sometimes takes a glass or wine or two before he’s ready to tell 'em. I’m just happy he’s still around not just to tell 'em but maybe even to generate a few more. Even if that business is (like the music biz, like books, etc) not what it was. Was always a slaughterhouse for artists but now it’s worse than it ever was. Alas.
Yeah agree, I love him in THX, also a favourite, de-specialised if possible
His delivery of the napalm line is one of the greatest in US cinema hstory.
Jesse Jackson
A titan of the civil rights movement. How sad is it that someone of his stature is still needed in today’s MAGA USA.
Waiting for Tronald and team to post that he was a LOSER ![]()
one of the last real giants of our age, for sure
All those decades of work, struggle and campaigning only to see your complete antithesis in power ![]()
