Cork slip mats. Do they make any real difference to the sound, or are they just nice things to look at and something else to spend a few quid on?
following on from the serpentine exhibition I posted about the other day,
this great set of speakers just came up for auction!
there’s some really beautiful images of the logo’s too.
Ice hockey pucks work well for a home set up as well
Anyone got good recommendations for a amp, budget of no more than £250/300 I’m afraid.
I lost my amp and speakers in the great separation of 2025.
TIA!
In the Uk you can probably find a used Rega Brio R in that range, I have one and I love it. Probably even leave you some extra money to help with speakers. There’s also the less powerful iO but I would try for the bigger one, even if an older model.
That’s funny as I was thinking exactly the same and looked up the prices of them today. I’d definitely recommend this too.
£5k a pop
Anyone got a bluetooth receiver to recommend? Been thinking about upgrading the amp altogether (though I love the 80’s NAD…) and getting something with a built-in one, but for now looking to go the budget friendlier route.
Not really a recommendation, but don’t get an Anker one, sent two back that I was trying to use to get my Sonos 5 to work. Just dropped the audio for a few seconds every so often, just enough to be madly irritating.
This guy has been using old Apple router:
Otherwise Wiim and Belkin maybe he mentions?
Off topic, but I have a long drive in my maw’s Ford. I have failed in many attempts to get Carplay set up and it’s fucking me off big time now. Most cars, including my own, you connect your iPhone to the USB and sorted. I have a USB cable that works, in that it connects and charges, but I just get a sign saying I need to connect to the sync USB. I’m connected through Bluetooth so have music etc, but prefer Carplay for longer journeys. Any Ford users?
Do I need to download an app, cause that doesn’t go down well with minimal app game.
Does the car have wireless car play? If so then setup should be quick through carplay settings. Some cars only have carplay through USB and aome even have a specific USB port that will work with Carplay. You don’t need an extra app.
Do you have the actual model of the car?
Ooooh, nice! What model are those JBLs?
@walshtron - it’s these ones
Don’t think I’ve gear spammed this thread yet so here goes
- 2 x Technics SL1210 mkii
- Ecler Nuo 2.0
- Benidub Digital Echo
- Pioneer SA8900 amp
- Pioneer HPM100 speakers
- Technics SB-R3 speakers
The HPM100’s were a proper grail pair of speakers for me, had some back in the 90’s but some enthusiastic fellow at a house party blew them up. Had been searching for 20 years for the right pair and these finally showed up this year - they are probably too big for my house but they sound great especially when they really turn over and I’m very happy.
Looking at getting a Condesa Lucia or Carmen and then I’m done….
I popped in to the Vivid Audio workshop this afternoon to see some freinds. Some unbelievable kit there I can tell you.
Perhaps of interest to some is that they have some speakers available at very freindly prices. All brand new, boxed etc.
They have a few pairs of these S12s which apparently list at £6000ish available for £1600 a pair, I think they said they’ve got them in green and grey as well as the purple ones. They look sweet on the tripod stands.
I’m sure there’s loads online about them but Dickie said they have a surprisingly good bottom end for a smaller speaker.
Anyway, if anyone is at all interested probably best to message me.
