Home listening set up

Cork slip mats. Do they make any real difference to the sound, or are they just nice things to look at and something else to spend a few quid on?

Ice hockey pucks work well for a home set up as well

Anyone got good recommendations for a amp, budget of no more than £250/300 I’m afraid.

I lost my amp and speakers in the great separation of 2025.

TIA!

In the Uk you can probably find a used Rega Brio R in that range, I have one and I love it. Probably even leave you some extra money to help with speakers. There’s also the less powerful iO but I would try for the bigger one, even if an older model.

That’s funny as I was thinking exactly the same and looked up the prices of them today. I’d definitely recommend this too.

Anyone got a bluetooth receiver to recommend? Been thinking about upgrading the amp altogether (though I love the 80’s NAD…) and getting something with a built-in one, but for now looking to go the budget friendlier route.

Not really a recommendation, but don’t get an Anker one, sent two back that I was trying to use to get my Sonos 5 to work. Just dropped the audio for a few seconds every so often, just enough to be madly irritating.

This guy has been using old Apple router:

Otherwise Wiim and Belkin maybe he mentions?

Off topic, but I have a long drive in my maw’s Ford. I have failed in many attempts to get Carplay set up and it’s fucking me off big time now. Most cars, including my own, you connect your iPhone to the USB and sorted. I have a USB cable that works, in that it connects and charges, but I just get a sign saying I need to connect to the sync USB. I’m connected through Bluetooth so have music etc, but prefer Carplay for longer journeys. Any Ford users?
Do I need to download an app, cause that doesn’t go down well with minimal app game.

Does the car have wireless car play? If so then setup should be quick through carplay settings. Some cars only have carplay through USB and aome even have a specific USB port that will work with Carplay. You don’t need an extra app.

Do you have the actual model of the car?
