is there a difference between wav and aiff? why would you go with wav over aiff? is it just preference?

Someone correct me if I’m off the mark here - Apple developed the aiff format, it’s kinda tied to the apple ecosystem to an extent, no difference in quality between the two. FLAC is just a really good lossless compressed size file format, should arguably be the standard.

Does anyone have experience of changing the play button on a cdj 2000? I’ve seen YouTube videos that make it look ok. But I’ve also seen YouTube videos that make plastering look easy. And it ain’t! So a word from the wise would be appreciated.

I had my play/cue buttons replaced on a Pioneer XDJ R1 controller by an official Pioneer repair service after checking out the alternatives you are considering here (and checking with clubs and other owners of dj gear) . They all said the same : have it properly done, so I thought I’d rather invest a bit more than messing up my device.

In audacity it would create a new file in a different format. What you’re describing is a batch command where you dump a bunch of files in a folder and the software opens and saves in a different format. ffmpeg is apparently worth a look for this type of batch processing.

The song request feature nobody asked for and the removal of physical buttons we all know forever were weird decisions… Hiding the USB ports so people won’t jack your drives is a bit better of a decision.

the only thing that looks useful is being able to make and edit playlists. and that’s just software, if they’d make that retroactively applicable to other models with touch screens… but i highly doubt that’ll happen.

Never to me but I know of several people who have had stolen drives. It’s usually because they have them popped in before the gig begins, or during chaotic DJ exchanges. The old location was also simply more exposed and prone to an accidental bump that would trigger the emergency loop. Time will tell if this newer location is any good but I think it’s an improvement.
