Is that the first time a weather event has halted a football match? Certainly one of this calibre in the modern game. Can’t remember one at this level since the snow storms of the 70s and 80s when they just threw on an orange ball and got told to carry on.

Euro 2016 Northern Ireland vs Ukraine in lyon. Very similar circumstances, heavy thunder storm and hail stopped the match for about 20 mins
