Of course there is.

How long before this official gets threats for doing his job & making a mistake - given the extra publicity the club have generated?

No one in the right mind would want this level of scrutiny or harassment in case of getting things wrong.

Liverpool should accept the decision like most other clubs do.

Asking for a replay? I can’t remember any other club doing that after a decision had gone against them, its all a bit embarrassing isn’t it?

How long til other clubs fans stop looking through their own tinted lenses and realise what happened and this opportunity to make the current situation better? How long til they realise these officials are getting flown out to Abu Dhabi for big money to officiate in matches, a huge conflict of interest. How long til they think how many times has this happened before? It affects every club who have VAR in their matches. It needs fixing and if this situation doesn’t change it, it will continue to get worse .

I am not disputing what you are saying there.

But what I am saying is that the official made a mistake, it happens ffs. The level of scrutiny that you have put him under could potentially make other officials think twice before making a decision that goes against you.

Mistakes happen, thats life move on…

And since you feel so strongly about this: will Liverpool suggest a game is replayed next time they get a decision that goes their way and another team loses out by human error?

Nah…

I’m not the club how could I say either way? I dont think this match should be replayed but if nothing is ever challenged nothing ever changes. These useless officials get paid 200k a year and they are making the game worse.

Of course you are not the club, but you are entitled to an opinion about things.

Asking for a replay, it wasn’t long ago that Klopp was complaining about there being too many fixtures:

Jürgen Klopp hits out at Liverpool’s crowded fixture schedule | Liverpool | The Guardian.

As for ‘useless officials’? It’s human error, it happens. Footballers on that amount each week make worse mistakes and they get away with it without being hounded, harrassed or intimidated.

Time to get over it…

If it was CL semi final or similar for your club (man utd or city im guessing) what would your response be?

Been there a few times already in the CL mate…

And someone who cares much more than I do has already made a list (and I am sure there are a lot more):

This one being a particular pisser: Paul Scholes Offside vs Porto 2003/04 as it effectively made mouriniho what he became.

Again, these things happen, every club will get decisions that cost them and also favour them. It’ll even itself out.

The point of VAR is that they dont have to.

I hate quoting the daily mail, but needs must eh?

The absolute reddest of herrings. A non story. And you called Liverpool embarrassing.

As I said, its all viewed through your own tinted lenses. It was interesting how gary nevilles narrative changed from Saturday to Sunday night once his employer had had a word.

Perhaps the truth hurts eh? Or does that particular publication have an agenda against you like the rest of the world do?

Embarrassing? That is your manager (or any other manager) asking for a replay because a decision didn’t go his way. Wanting the league to change the way they’ve operated for 30 years (and a whole lot longer if you count the first division) because Liverpool didn’t get a decision.

Yes, it was the wrong decision but that happens in life.

Then still making the biggest fuss ever in the media over this 4 days later? Is it an attempt to influence future decisions? maybe its so you stay relevant? Who knows?

Whichever way it’s embarrassing…a bit like comparing it to a CL semi final . Spurs away, 6 games into the start of the season is not comparable to a CL semi final. You should know that with your clubs pedigree.

You lot are coming across like those anti Maradona ‘ingerlund’ fans still irked by the hand of god in 1986.

Get over it, accept the apology and move on like every other club would :+1:

Clearly an emotive subject this one.

This is only going one way, your post is dripping with it. Can’t help yourselves. I’ll spare everyone else the bullshit, its not that sort of place.

haha, nah, it’s a manc / self pity city thing, it goes back decades.

I’ll leave the thread and let the lad to wallow in it… :+1:

If there was any further evidence needed there it is.

The only evidence there is an inability to understand anyone else’s take on it.

It was the wrong decision, but there is nothing you can do about it. Demand fines, points deducted, ask for replays etc but it isn’t going to happen.

Human error, deal with it.

Apologies for anyone having to read this from 798 downwards.

The end.

Thats funny

Merseyside and Manchester derbies are barely a contest these days.

The stats on the Mcr derby confirm otherwise.

Citeh have won just over half (9) of the derbies in the last 5 years. There’s been 16 matches with 1 draw.

Citeh are undoubtedly the best team in the world.

But don’t let that cloud anyones judgement :+1:
