VAR. Absolute farce.

That performance from the ref and the VAR team yesterday was the very worst I’ve ever seen in my 40 plus years of watching LFC. Absolute joke

Same, absolutely horrific. Spurs celebrating like they won the league. They were pretty quiet leaving the ground, they knew they had got away with one massively.

I agree with Shearer/Neville etc that it massively erodes trust in VAR. Offside was pretty much the one thing everyone could agree on. Makes you wonder now.

Its true, people dancing in the stands long after the final whistle, I was one of them :slightly_smiling_face:
I know we are getting bantered for it but Id rather that than go back back to the atmosphere we had there last year, honestly it was grim.
That all said the Ref/VAR situation is appalling.

Fair enough but fucking hell. That match was ruined. 11 v 10 we still win, v 9 we deserved a point after 28 minutes.

I think this is a shift, imagine they had to talk through the decision to the crowd.

100% agree.
On the personal tip it cost me a lot of money for my son and I to go to that game, a hotel for two night was needed thanks to the Train Driver strike (I work in the industry and I’ve been giving drivers shit all week about the strike) and the the cost of the tickets etc, so yeah I wanted a good fair entertaining game but it ended out like that, not at all chuffed about how we got the three points.
Two of my bosses are Liverpool fans, lots of banter in the office this week I guess

on a total side note: Its very frustrating being in London for the day but not being able to go record shopping before the game as I believe the max size of a bag that they let into the stadium its just under 12" inches.

Spurs season ticket holder here…

I keep reading Pool fans saying they can’t WAIT for the replay… as if we’re the villains?! the offside thing was the main travesty, the red card was another issue (also not us)… and the ‘reason’ we celebrated like that was a totally different thing (ie. we just beat someone who always destroys us and who we’ve had terrible bad fortune in terms of ref decisions). there’s no way in the world they wouldn’t have gone mental if the tables were turned!

Regarding the disallowed goal…
What’s incredible to me is that not a single person has contemplated the concept that going 1-0 away from home against an unbeaten side who have come from behind to win several times while having 10 men with an hour remaining doesn’t necessarily mean an automatic victory!

I love Liverpool & Shack forever.

A big hoo-hah today with United about the amount of Galatasary fans in the home end last night - reportedly thousands on tickets bought directly via the club.

Hello Spurs season ticket holder.

LFC season ticket holder here. First of all it’s good to hear your views on this, since Saturday I’ve spoken with a few Spurs fans who have the same view as you. To add i don’t think you’re wrong on any of the points you’ve made. Our gripe is not with Spurs, it’s with the PGMOL who are making a massive amount of clear mistakes every game, mistakes that can eventually cost millions and millions of pounds, can cost clubs titles, champions league qualification, relegation, not to mention the misery to fans when losing games like we did on Saturday when we all spend a fortune to follow our teams home and away. Not one reds fan who i stand on the kop with every game nor the ones i travel with to most away games with are demanding or expect a replay, i agree Spurs as a club did nothing wrong and shouldn’t be punished. What we are taking a stance at here is for the good of football and every club, not just LFC. PGMOL need to be accountable and look at ways to reduce these mistakes which seem to be getting more and more frequent, an apology just won’t cut it anymore. Hopefully some good will now come out of Saturdays game. Every football fan should be grateful to us for having the bollocks to challenge these clowns who are ruining our beloved sport. PS - celebrating like you did as fans after Saturdays game was fine with me, i celebrate every win like that, i actually dislocated my shoulder after Jota scored the last minute winner against you last season (i ended up four rows of seats down the kop) but maybe you’re players should reign it in a bit - leave that behaviour to Everton players when the get a draw against us) :triangular_flag_on_post:

agreed on all of this. all clubs stand to benefit from this being sorted and all have a big list of complaints about previous decisions. I can actually see a replay happening after that audio was released. I’m excited about the opportunity to replay the 2019 champions league final too

Haha, my Spurs mates still go on about Mo’s 2019 penalty. It was very harsh mate i admit.

Good luck for the rest of the season :+1:

I’ve heard lots of pundits, journos or whatever say things worked a lot better in the World Cup… I avoided much of that tournament. So is that just the passage of time that made it seem better or was it? Heard about decisions being more automated? and not left to the doughnuts in Andy Townshend’s re-purposed Tactics Truck.

As a fan of a ‘lower league’ club the frequent refereeing fuck ups we are the victim (and beneficiary) of are a lot more organic, more personal :joy:, think I prefer it that way tbh.

I can’t comment on the world cup as i watched very little of it myself, but having experienced footy both with and without VAR i know which i prefer. It’s got to the point you don’t celebrate a goal properly anymore due to fear of it being chalked off coz VAR has picked up a minor infringement in the build up. First reaction now after a goal is to look if the opposition players are kicking up a fuss, then look at the ref, then the big screen / scoreboard to see the dreaded message appear (VAR checking…) then wait a minute or five then celebrate or not!

100%, the goal thing is a real passion killer. Sucks all the joy out of it.

That pen was spot on to the laws of the game at the time. :slightly_smiling_face:

There is also an argument here that Liverpool are also potentially making it very difficult (impossible) for the officials in every future game they play to give a decision against them in fear that they will kick up a fuss like this again.

No one in the right mind would want this level of scrutiny for making a mistake.

These things happen, everyone needs to accept it and move on.

No there isnt.
