Horror show that was, Aberdeen will look to stick the boot in too on Saturday (literally and metaphorically) then Napoli next week. No rest.
Feel for Brighton. Off to a flier and possibly challenging for European places and thier manager gets his head turned by a deeply unlikeable club
Something has gone wrong during the summer and I donât expect GVB to be in the job much longer tbh.
I actually thought Potter had more integrity than to dump Brighton like that. Maybe Iâm naive. He has so many admirers I would have thought he felt confident of a bigger job coming along at the end of the season and didnât need to jump at the first âbig clubâ that came along. Or maybe he just thought things change, you never know what might happen, grab the opportunity while you can. Anyway, gutted for Brighton.
Same here, its a sadly familiar story and one that one change for the foreseeable future - especially whilst there are a handful of super wealthy clubs in the world and the majority of them are in the PL.
They live for the opportunities like this, probably getting 5 times the money he was on at Brighton and will walk away with a huge pay off in 2 years when he is inevitably fired.
He seems like a decent bloke but his teams dont win that many matches. The fairy story in Sweden isnt quite what it seemed, funded by a huge fraudulently acquired transfer budget that put the owner behind bars.
I thought he could potentially be the next England manager but think thatâs now hugely dependent on how he fares at Chelsea
The ÂŁ22mill release fee paid to Brighton is the highest ever for a manager.
Thatâs outrageous tbh
Liverpool v Ajax
Good game this. Actually dreading tomorrowâs game against Napoli.
Been watching Bayern v Barca with my son. Top, top football.
Up and running. A good performance v a decent Ajax side, should have been more emphatic but the win was massively important in terms of qualifying.
I had lost complete interest in football over the last few years. No doubt it coinciding with me not playing anymore but also the money and chancers involved put me off, the chancers bit especially prevalent with Birmingham City. Anyhow Iâve been starting to check the scores of the Blues games over the last couple of months so maybe my interest is returning a littleâŚmaybe. Still have no interest in watching a game mind but I just checked the highlights of Blues v West Brom last night. Check Birminghamâs second goal, it was Hoganâs second of his hat trick. If Man City had scored this goal with a pass from De Bruyne to Haaland it would have been talked about for months (weeksâŚwell today anyhow)
PL snobbery is alive and well⌠Some of the comments when Rangers reached the Europa League Final in MayâŚ
Out to Blues for letting us (Cov) squat at St Andrews a few seasons ago. Much respect and good luck for the season.
The way our ground is falling to bits we may be asking for the favour to be returned. Are you playing home games again as yet?
Interesting to see how this weekend goes. We seem to be brimming with confidence right now.
In theory yes we are back at home, although with the Albion game called off last week and international break next (zzzzzzzzzzz) itâll be October before we actually play. Such a shambles, guess thatâs what happens when you in effect rent your ground and have very little influence over what itâs used for the rest of the time.
The ground has never really felt like home to me, probably because my memories were shaped at HR (not exactly a cathedral but ours at least). It may be different to fans that have spent their formative years watching them at the Ricoh/CBS, when we werenât playing in Northampton or Birmingham that is.
Tbh the whole business side of football bores me to tears - takeovers, consortiums, majority shareholders, millionaire/billionaire owners, fit and proper persons ( ) etc etc. Iâve resented having to try and understand all this just so I can follow my team although it ainât going to change any time soon.
Saying that the team has really connected with the fans since Robins has been back, much more so than during the PL days.
Enjoy the game.
Ha fit and proper persons is the biggest joke going. Nobody even knows who actually owns Birmingham and before that it was the dude who ended up in prison (links to Chinese mafia) and now we have these complete chancers claiming they are running the club (yet are only buying 21%) and rumours are they have been scrambling around for a couple of months trying to raise capital including Russian money! The EFL are to blame as much as all the crooks involved. These are the sort of games we lose by the way so expecting a Coventry win.
Back to it today, at home to St. Johnston and another new manager for us, Liam Fox plus a new assistant in Stevie Crawford.
Edit to say: we are in deep shit.
Football doing my nut in right now. So annoying.
Tell me about it. Very nervous about the game on Tuesday tbh. We have been very poor in the CL so far, especially against Ajax. Didnât really expect to get anything, but we didnât even compete and looked disinterested, which is worrying. Napoli was better until the penalty and red card.
Realistically, we need to be getting a point at Anfield to have any chance of not finishing last. Canât see it, even though youâre not at your best right now.
Was planning to head to Liverpool for the game and meet my best pal (whoâs a massive Red) but couldnât get the time off work.
