enjoyed the football itself. some classics
off-pitch however, way too many horror stories and some real nastiness c/o (guess who…). can you ever really separate the football from the evil around it? a tricky one…

That’s amazing. Good on him.
I saw that. Superb that man!
Some of the aftermath has been really ugly unfortunately. However, the England team and manager have been class from the start. The governments attempt to piggyback on their success is embarrassingly cynical and is being called out for what it is.
Gareth Southgate’s open letter was the perfect opportunity to send out a clear message. They did the exact opposite.
Poundshop populism coming back to bite her right there. Good on Tyrone Mings, articulated perfectly.
What an awful person she is
Completely forgot about this thread. Will stop using the others. Soz!
Ha, same. This will probably die again now til August
I cheated and updated the title of the thread as originally it was about the Euros : )
UEFA are horrific. Don’t buy their story about events last night, its bullshit. And a certain chelsea supporting DJ is all over the bullshit narrative again. Sad really.
yeah sounded horrendous and probably brought back a lot of unwelcome ghosts from past. So many international police make no distinction between decent football fans and hoolies on the chiz (see Wembley 2021) which is why the riot squads turn up, although reading Spanish media, they were equally shocked by how their fans were treated. Then throw in a load of local youth jumping the fence or on the rob and it´s basically a hellhole situation for families and young kids.
The Europa final in Seville was a clusterfuck too with barely any drinking water available in the stadium. Rangers & Frankfurt fans are getting together to take legal action against UEFA.
Colleague of mine was over for that, sounded a real mess. UEFA are beyond inept, only there for the £££ whilst putting lives at risk. A horrible organisation.
Some fans were in the stadium for over 5 hours with no water. Outrageous for a major sporting event in 2022.And then there’s the Spanish police…
UEFA gave a meek apology of course, but where’s the oversight on them? They’re is no other sporting or entertainment event where paying customers would be treated like that.
Stopped going to the footy in the 70’s…
Bad behaviour has been going on ever since, everybody blaming everyone else.
Racism, homophobia, violence.
It’s unacceptable.
The means are there to stop it, but sadly not the motivation from the fans, players or the organisers.
I agree to a point. Things have changed massively, and all the better for it, but there is still far too many that see it as an excuse for being a complete t*$t. Football, like anything that has such a wide societal participation, is a mirror. There’s an ugly element that you don’t seem to get with, say, rugby.
As a fan, and someone involved with fan groups, I disagree with the last sentence
Are they doing enough? No, but it is getting better. There is definitely the motivation from the majority.
In my experience it’s a myth that rugby fans are well behaved.
I’ve seen some serious depravity from pointy sheux and bootcut wearing cunts in Cardiff when the six nations are on.
I see the Saint-Etienne fans took relegatiuon well last night…
“Independent review”
Quite. By one of their own.
We’ve investigated ourselves and found ourselves not guilty
