I saw the human league perform this live on the costa brava a few years ago. just as dreadful as I remembered it at ā80sā nights. I also find it hard to square with Moroderās earlier genius.
The biggest reactions Iāve ever gotten were for the following:
Alan Parker - Thatās What Friends Are For
- always loved the sentiments behind this. Smiles for miles.
Jerry Butler - Just Because I Really Love You - played this after the Dilla All Samples Cleared 12ā came out, and was my go to for a bit. Loved just messing around with it as well.
Nancy Wilson - Iām In Love - Perfect record.
Tim Maia - The Dance Is Over - another one that sends them off well, I think. A bit sobering as well.
The Brand New Heavies - I Donāt Know Why I Love You - stolen from Harvey/Weatherall at Trouw. What a moment.
Lord Echo - Thinking Of You - everyone knows it seemingly.
All Saints - Pure Shores - this one is a bit niche. I played at a club around the time that this came out which was across the street from the beach and at 8am this was pure bliss.
Brenda Fassie - Weekend Special - top tip, go to South Africa and play this absolutely anywhere. Youāll never get the roof back on.
