Yes. The weather needs to be feverishly hot and humid… preferably a hazy/dark sky.
It’s really some of the most evocative music on the planet.

Just a heads up there’s an Ambient Americana Youtube 24/7 stream just kicked off which is a doozy. It’s run by the guys from SUSS (check their LPs if you want to explore this whole cosmic/ambient Americana sound). It really is a lovely listen, loads of ethereal pedal steel, minimal country style strings over sweeping widescreen soundscapes - well recommended.
Xtal and Ptolemy on SAW are particular faves
Edit: Actually, not sure NoW counts as ambient?
Ishmael Cormack is a really promising young UK ambient/electroacoustic artist and it’s great to hear him returning to the Krysalisound pastures where, with his usual lightness of touch, he scatters delicate acoustic seeds into the soft electro breeze to further foster the ambient fields.
Unhinged stuff from the late Jake Netherclift. Proud to have called him a cunt on many occasions, sleep well my friend.
Wilson Tanner - 69
Raymond Richards - Lost Art of Walking
KLF - Chill Out
Space - Space
G.S. Schray - First Appearance
icy cool ambient - a side project by the artist called warmth

This is a beaut!
just trawling through this thread and thought I’d heard all of the amazing Japanese ambient music on YouTube but had missed this one! Thanks for the link!
I definitely see the resemblance to ‘From Gardens’ - really amazing listen
Downbeat/Chill? Whatever, it’s a brilliant record still
It is! Got a promo copy of it on CD for 50p when local record shop closed down #bargain
bought this on bandcamp friday 7th may…name your price…know the label but none of the artists and was really impressed with pretty much all the tracks…well worth a listen!
yup…one of my favourites too…so much space between the notes too
This is great, would sound perfect walking at midnight through the neon streaked streets of a near future far eastern dystopian metropolis, but it also sounded great walking through Worcester in the rain today.
