When people used to ask me if Spider was my dj name and I’d confuse them by saying no, it’s my bboy name… as below
My mate made this Electro mix tonight in lieu of our upcoming party as a promo teaser - will really get you poppin and lockin!
A few modern-ish ones!
Also if you like it on the dirty end of Electro into Techno this mix is still brilliant
Best place to be on a Saturday afternoon.
Our paths may have crossed. Got to know STN through Steve Kerr (RIP) when he moved to Stevenage, through Steve met Jon, Tony, Nick, Darryl etc when we went to Bournemouth and stayed round Jon’s.
This is my fave aux 88 so good whole ep
Apologies if I’m singing to the choir
Discovered this one on Electro 12 and picked it up on 12" a few years ago. Not full on electro but one of those tracks that came out in a small window around 85-86 with a bit of that Freestyle sound that was so big in NYC. The label was an offshoot of Cutting Records so you can see how that happened.
Still love this now, not least for the line “my name is Mighty Mike, some people call me Steve”
Sounds like great rapping (for 86) right at the end too, which makes me wonder why its obscured by a beatbox and the announcers voice.
This thread starting to cost me money lol
Just like about three others…
test pressing forum is like catnip to me
You may want to give the Music production thread a wide berth…
That boat sailed s long time ago lol
Just as long as i avoid auto trader forum i might be ok
a couple more classics, starting with Blackpool’s finest - Section 25 ‘Looking From a Hilltop’, which ended up inspiring some US producers, and is beloved by Cut Chemist (see his IG post, which is an update on an old Wax Poetics article he did many moons ago)

needs no introduction, it’s on Electro 1 and still bangs to this day - G-Force ‘Feel The Force’
just one more, and i think this may be my favourite electro tune with a proper rap on it - Kid Frost ‘Terminator’ - i still pull this to play on the regular
Still gutted I never got my copy of subway art back from a mate. Found spraycan art in the loft recently though. I spent days looking at those books!
That’s not my original copy of Subway Art, had to replace it and I’ve got no memory of where the first one went.
Luckily it’s been reprinted a number of times so wasn’t hard to find.
Good to see ‘street hockey’ on this flyer. It was certainly a thing bitd. There was the famous ‘Skate Attack’ in Kentish Town just down the road from me.
There was also a Kickers fashion store on the high street and the shop assistants would roller-skate around the shop which seemed like the best job ever to us!
We were really into Street Hockey when we were little… I thought I could still skate until I went to a roller disco here in LA and realised it’s totally not like riding a bike and you can totally forget everything after 30 odd years…
Last time I skated was at a roller disco after moving house/town in ‘88 aged 16. Remember hearing Fast Eddie ‘yo yo get funky’ (Woo Yeah) before I knew what house music was.
Used to say I was better on skates than I was on two feet. The passage of time and dodgy knees mean I won’t be flying over to Soul Skate any time (ever)!
