Anyone else’s dogs having post-lockdown issues?
Otto has always been totally chill being left by himself for a couple of hours. Yesterday our neighbours reported he was ‘howling distraughtly’. He’d literally just come back from a walk with his mates and found the house empty. The backdoor was open, he had loads of water, but after the last year of near permanent human presence this was NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Looks like we’re going to have to practice leaving the house and coming back to get him back into the swing of it. Poor guy.
Would imagine there will be loads of people in a similar situation. My dog is at the age where she’s happy for the peace and quiet.
Sometimes, for some dogs, leaving the radio on can help
Not had that but it’s not surprising. Hopefully he will readjust. I had a dog once who never barked or howled until after he had an operation to remove a half eaten toy from his guts. Something changed in him for a while but he calmed down again after a month or so.
A bit of EDM can help,
Have you tried talking to his mates…
On a serious note dogs can forget routine pretty fast, not talking goldfish memory but after a couple of weeks they can get used to a new walk route, new people, around other dogs ect.It might just be a one off and just let off a little bit of steam…
Kids & dogs in my experience. Trips out of various lengths will soon get a routine back
