Disco rock party

Glad I could provide you with a wee splash of nostalgia. Of course it’s not what it used to be etc.

Eddie Richards did a brilliant Post-Punk/Goth mix for Halloween probably about 15 years ago, wish I could find it. It featured Chameleons’ Don’t Fall.

I didn’t really listen to them at the time to be honest, but I fell in love with that tune particularly…

Chamelons were a massive fave amongst my mates so I saw them many times bitd and even participated in road trip up to Manchester for a reunion gig about 10yrs ago - the audience was like a who’s who of the local 80s scene.
Theyve been doing occasional gigs ever since and are great live - recommended

Always stayed clear of this due to the subject matter, which is a shame cause it’s a proper rockin belter. Put it through the stem splitter on Ableton to make it an instrumental and it came out unscathed though, slight tangent from the topic but what are people’s thoughts on playing it?

Is gay rock allowed? Swerve this one if not!

Mid 90s my mates had a house with big lounge dining room with no table
Fridays we’d get wrecked on breaker & gold seal & have ‘rock night’ which was a mix of rock / disco / northern
All 7" before it became a thing

We’d seamlessly seague from Harry Thurman Underwater ( a big fave) into Rainbows Since Youve Been gone ( a bigger fave & my original 7")

There’s a 7 of this sat in a local shop for a year at least, totally brilliant but too over the heads of this party to pay retail.

The collective ended up full of winter colds and sickness, party was postponed till last Saturday where the 30 potential guests cried off leaving just a handful of us.

Had a ‘DJ’ (read ‘DJ’ as C**t) turn up, barge in and play, yes really…True Faith-Take Me Away, followed by Faithless-Can’t Get No Sleep with an added florish of plugging in a memory stick into a CD player and playing Earth Wind & Fire. That pretty much killed the vibe until he fucked off home, after getting pushed off the decks by the hosts partner.

Ripped out a good hour or more after midnight, all the above is noted or was played, plus these two below. Sounded incredible. Ended with just me, Dave (an original 80’s goth who turned to Rave in the late eighties) and Simons 15 year old daughter jumping around to Van Halens ‘Jump’

She really loved it, which is what matters.

We are all still ill.

Thanks for the suggestions, more rock on the dancefloor for 2026…
