Disco rock party

NYE for me is a house party round the the usual suspects. We are going to abandon (‘gay’) disco, (‘boring’) house, (‘cheesy’) electro and play the riff, the goth, bad hair etc. It helps as my hosting mates partner hates anythng deep or disco and has a vague love of rock and folk flavours, it’s all pretty loose so anything that makes them dance. It’s the last place I haven’t been banned from.

Any ideas, vinyl only, nothing too clever or beard stroking? Post two, with bonus points if I can dig this out of the tip for nowt before 2025 all ends in beer and vomit.

The obvious one

The one with some Balearic kudos

The one I’d play from when David Sylvian wanted to be David Johansen

Was gonna say Bella as well, “she’s in parties” would be the obvious compliment / alternative alternative

Saw massive attack cover Bella a few years ago (probs 2019) when they did some shows around tracks they had sampled for Mezzanine

Not sure which track sampled ot but was dope to see them do it live. Most of the band Was ex -Spiritualised, a good night indeed

Did you ever see David MacAlmont on Buzzcocks when this came up in the “what’s the actual lyrics”’round

Knew every word and absolutely bossed it :rainbow_flag::fire:

About 14 mins in

Added bonus Bob Mortimer looking like he’s still in short trousers

The Skatt Bros Tune is crazy money on discogs now. Probably guilty of leaving one behind before, what a killer tune though!

What’s wrong with gay disco?

I assume they were using the term pejoratively.

I’d swerve that party personally
