Danny Rampling

Yeah he comes off like a twat there.

Wasnt it actually quite difficult to get in to Shoom?

Hilarious to see someone who spends so much time going on about the new world order hiding behind the European Convention on Human Rights and threatening to sue people for “free speech” in calling him out for hanging out with far Right nutters. Very silly.

I know! I’m surprised he didn’t throw a bit of ‘Freeman of the Land’ in there too! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Did Rampling have something to do with that Shoom club night back in late 80s?! F@cks sake.

No mention of the tattoo allegations.

Interesting - saw NO at blue dot at Jodrell Bank back in 2013 and they were ace, but wasn’t blown away when I saw them in Bristol a couple of years ago - is PH’s The Light any cop then? They’re playing here in a month or so, might go along

I’ve seen NO a couple of times in recent years and to me they sound like they are their own tribute band. I think PH and the Light keep the backing tracks as they were/are. If that makes sense? PH can’t sing for toffee but then neither could Barney. Ever. Or play guitar live. And he certainly couldn’t do both at the same time. No wonder Hooky got fucked off with him :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I thought it was interesting how he invoked the spirit of Shoom as a defence, almost hinting there is now some kind of struggle for the soul of acid house. It seem he thinks he IS acid house… whereas to me it felt like dusting down and donning the historical cloak of inclusivity to give himself an alibi

No intellectual case presented for his beliefs either, merely the right to exercise them… it’s cowardly (and I see it all the time) because it ducks all scrutiny. Not hard to work out why…

His Facebook post yesterday got over 1000+ likes but I didn’t recognise anyone other than Jefferson and ‘Dangerous’ Dave Pearce, further evidence that there are parallel, permanently estranged ‘dance communities’ now which share zilch in common

If only someone would investigate his politics of the early 80s…

They are particularly bad on both Facebook & Instagram on pretty much any of the contemporary dance music magazine news sites. The reality of the situation is that the push to the further reaches of the right is way worse than any of us are willing to allow ourselves to believe.

When i got a mix of the day feature on RA i had to contend with people attacking me because they thought i was a woman and that RA shouldn’t be giving so much column space to women…

Mark & Lard used to call him something like Mildly Alarming Dave Pearce
