Claremont 56 - appreciation thread

OK then, let’s hear it ? What album/12" is your favourite from the label ?

I think the Bambi Davidson album is up there, but I really love Torn Sail - Birds as one of the best 12" singles. I have just ordered ‘Hillside - Sunday In June’ as that looks to be another great bit of music from Paul and co.

I think Claremont 56 is my favourite label in my record collection, I have a lot of the releases and the art work is also the best sleeve art work I have in my collection too.

What is yours ?

When you go back through their catalogue you release just how much good music they have actually released. A few favourites:

Yes. So much good music and Mudd just quietly gets on with it. Respect is due.

Love me some Claremont 56.

My recent favourites are the Hillside 12" and Sillyboy’s Ghost Relatives LP

Also a massive fan of the Paqua LP and Smith and Mudd’s Gorthleck.

I definitely reccomend the Bandcamp subscription, you get all the new music digitally and a discount on all the physical stuff. And you get entered into a monthly draw, I won the first scooping a deluxe copy of the 10 year box set!

Offt… where do you start, what an amazing label!!

So much amazing music, it’s an early one but absolutely love this track.

And both Hear and Now albums are class, and I just read that their 3rd is on its way!!

Lucky git, I was crossing all my fingers and toes hoping I’d win that box set!!

Yes definitely the Bandcamp subscription so worth it!!

Claremont 56 is also my favourite label. The quality of the music is incredible.

The Originals compilations got me into digging and exploring music like nothing else, they were a real eye opener.

I can’t possibly choose a favourite release, but this is one track I keep coming back to;

Often pull this one out.

There are so many. I’m going right back to the start with the B Side of C56001 which set the tone and they’ve never looked back.

Mudd is a Don and one of the best people I’ve ever met in music. That’s saying something. So fortunate to have got in on the ground level with C56, been buying on sight for near 15 years now without a single disappointment. There’s a couple I missed over the years but not many. Meeting Paul in LDN in 2010 and having him give me a goody bag full of C56 treats was a highlight (BOTH blue & red vinyl versions of Let’s Get Hot/Cool AND a TP of Ode to Perfume???)! Between IIB & C56 2006/7 definitely laid the groundwork for what I’d be checking musically. There are too too many to choose here but one of my faves was when there was a trend of 13+ minute tunes coming out, Prins Thomas’ mix of Hatchback comes to mind, but this one I could easily listen to on a loop. Still stunning.
