Slightly separate question! Is Chrismas music the most disingenous music there is?
Admittedly I’m not Christmas’ biggest fan anyway but every year there is more and more Christmas music all trying to cash in on the most cashed in festival of the year - as most of the original songs were. Christmas songs are capitalism at its finest

Ultimately, yes. And why there’s slim pickings when it comes to genuine quality. Even the ones I do like, I would only play if forced.
Not a lot of artistic integrity on show, but not a bad earner if willing to sell your soul. I’m sure I read somewhere that Mariah Carey coins in around £2M per year in royalties for that song.
this for me is the pinnacle of Christmas songs - so hauntingly beautiful with Dennis Wilson on lead vocal.

i’ve been doing this for a while now. it all started when the mrs insisted on playing wham back-to-back for hours on end. by way of a compromise i did a mix of 40 different cover versions of last christmas. not all of them are bad 
Christmas records are ace. Last Christmas/Everything She Wants is up there with the best pop record ever made. Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole etc crooning the classics can’t be beaten. Wings, John Lennon etc are ace. Just enjoy it for what it is. Joyful and full of memories which I have (re) created with my own kids for the last 20 plus years. Trying to find cool Christmas music every single year is not for me because there isn’t any.
