Anything can be the greatest chillout in the right company with the right drugs. Post rave in the early 90’s, a lot of people in Sydney would predominantly play beats and electronic music at the afters/comedown session, we often steered towards these sounds as well, but also had an open book policy that involved bands like Love, The Pentangle, The Durutti Column, This Mortal Coil, WAR, Tim Buckley, 10CC, The Korgis, On-U Sound artists and so on.

It became a competition of who could bring out the tracks that blew minds, hit you in the feels and really made a dna imprint on each other via music. TBH - I always preferred a great afters to the night before, and I’m lucky to have had some really special ones, as no doubt every single one of us here has experienced.

Here’s a few more for the upcoming TP Chillout playlist which I’m happy to make on Spotify today. Maybe somebody else wants to do a YouTube version?

Rarely mentioned but an immense album in the ambient techno cannon

the entirety of the Aubrey mixes of UIltraworld was essential chillout

the piano and soft breakbeat - makes me emotional even now

playlist is live! - will add to it as thread evolves. Obviously, not everything was available on Spotify, but most tracks seem to be.
