Andrew Weatherall

Yeah. It’s grown on me a little, but overall it feels a bit average :grimacing:

Don’t let them hear you say that over on ALFOS. They’ll be marching to your door with pitchforks, chanting, “Burn him”.

I am / was a big ALFOS fan but it does seem to have gone in another direction recently.

there’s a distance between ‘some tracks we were working on to play out’ and ‘this is our final album’; which might account for all the controversy

I listened to it on my commute in this morning. I think track 2 is ok. The rest I found so uneventful that at times I forgot I was listening to something.

It has no energy! Music made by very very stoned people.

I’m on the fringes of it all so maybe not best placed to comment, but FWIW I liked a lot of his music if never a fanatical completist. The main appeal for me though was his immense wit and dry commentary on the silliness of dance culture. The actual music was often a sideshow imo. Of course, what’s happened over the last 3 years is he spawned all these spinoff movements, passionately supported by ageing tribes that meet up for weekenders in small towns and it does feel very reminiscent of Northern Soul. Sometimes feels like people do take it all VERY seriously (which no doubt would amuse him a lot).

Very very seriously! The cult has eyes everywhere :eyes:

I’ve had some great nights at ALFOS. Don’t find it boring at all but then again I don’t mind the odd jazz cigarette.

I definitely don’t take it too seriously and have only ever really seen a positive community aspect around it til now. A few nutters going off on one at the minute.

Im a massive fan of loads but find lots ( & there is a lot of output) not for me

I always think Andrew would have wanted people to say what they thought & not just praise it / buy it religiously - Like what you like & be honest what you dont

I found his reggae selections amazing but could never get the rockabilly thing & I was a teenage Meteors fan

As its one of last things he did & there has been a wait you can see why the disciples have fervour

Obvs not posted on the FlightPath FB & nothing to do with tarnishing his amazing legacy which I still play a lot

That was a great night in Todmorden. Phonox the night before was great too. And a Sunday dub set on the Red Lion’s sound system. They know how to build a sound system in that part of the world.

Can some one check on Moodynann.

Deleting that message could be a sign he’s been kidnapped by any Weatherall Cultists lurking on here…

Last seen being gaffer taped to a rocket, with ‘Love is the Chug’, written on the side.

If there’s more than one of them involved in the kidnapping, does that make them the Multi Culti? :face_with_peeking_eye:
