Remember that amazing MBM track from a comp called Dubnology - Journeys into Outer Bass (1999). Thanks for rebooting my memory ![]()
this got re-issued recently, although the vinyl was pretty steeply priced so I stuck to digital.
Not quite on topic but GTO Pure came on shuffle whilst running - Sounded great
Pure / Yaah / Techno Trance / Amber Groove - All those euro technoey that still got played with other stuff was a golden era
( Night in Motion is a GP)
We went to the Hacienda to hear Tony Humphries and he played Amber Groove⦠Sounded great mixed in with house⦠Those times of not being so genre specific were so good and he did it really well⦠Always pulled out a curveballā¦
He often slips in something tough.
OK its more prog than trance, but he played that Darren Emerson Shakespears Sister mix at Faith in April.
According to Ballyeric network folklore he played it 3x times at Full Circle whilst Clive Henry on the dancefloor
Did Rave Generator liberally acknowledge it or is that my imagination
He used it on the first Ministry mix/compilation too

1st mix CD Eva?
Was it before JBDJ?
Good question. I doubt it would be first (someone will know), but certainly same time as JBDJ started.
Would Streetsounds Electro be the first , or does it have to be a CD?
Froggyās mix of The Perfect Beat compilation (cassette & promo vinyl only) might be a contender, coming out the year before the mixed Crucial Electro.
Both good points. I had a Shep Pettibone Prelude mix vinyl ( great cover from memory) & Walters Disco Madness
So yes I meant CD ![]()
Iāve got this which was free with Mixmag in 1990.

Probably doesnāt count though as itās lots of short mixes, not one long one.
Good shout that. I have that somewhere, not from the time though. Nice freebie for the time
I still love this record- straddles that rave/ trance/ Balearic line and just the right amount of Italian cheese:
How brilliant was this CD. My mate Mark had it. So many good tracks.
Some memories on that mix
