Melba Moore - Standing Right Here
Yes! Absolutely love this, one of my favourite 12’s of all time. I love the way it breaks down then builds up ever so slowly over the second half.
Such a beautiful record and a true sentiment. I played it to everyone at my work the other week, had huge ‘when we could go out’ nostalgia vibes.
I used to think this record was kind of “corny” or old-fashioned back when my tastes in everything were shaped by what was and wasn’t cool on a b-boy level. Ironically enough as these things happen I heard it played at an uprocking jam and realized how wrong I was. An exquisite little gem, beautiful sounds and beautifully engineered-
The joys of Roy they are truly boundless-
What? You like “b-side disco”? That’s cool I like a-side disco. You get your favorite private press island disco 7” and I’ll bring this and let’s meet at the club and put them on back to back and see as the wizard Raekwon once said “who sons who.” Sometimes things are popular because they’re amazing-

Yes, if only there was a thread like that
I was like ‘Dr John…?’ oh, it’s THAT Dr John – great video, what a treat
I heard it for the first time at a work party a couple of years ago, a 20-yr old dialled it in via the aux cable, I was like WHAAAAAT
I think it became a Youtube Algorithm special, like Clio’s Faces. Anyway it’s a fantastic track and has since been repressed so you don’t have to sell a kidney to get it.
good – when I looked it up on Discogs I nearly cried

Hooked on love-
I bought this for 50 cents when I was 18 years old took it home and played it for about an hour straight. There’s something so ill about being a toy and discovering that you know nothing and will never run out of records to chase. A crazy high-
At any given time someone’s cool ass uncle somewhere on planet Earth is playing this song and doing a little dance-
Brooklyn shit/Cadillac music/Maximalist unashamedly-
Herbie Hancock - Stars In Your Eyes
I put this on like every third tape I make. Perfection.
One of those perfect records for later on when the night is going well and you have the trust of the floor
When I heard that on the Pikes compilation, I couldn’t believe it. Phenomenal.
I’m sure I’ve heard this down at lowlife on numerous occasions
Goosebumps every time with this one
