Hello all, what are the records you play at the wrong speed (deliberately😂) that sound as good if not better than the correct pitch?
I’ve got a few but to start off, ive found that Radiohead’s High and Dry at 45 -8 turns into a jangly alt-country number with a female vocal. Always gets a ‘who’s doing this cover? ‘ whenever played out😀

Have to admit as I’ve got older I’m usually pitching down the BPM on records at either -2 or -4 that don’t have vocals on, but one I can recommend at 33rpm instead of 45 is this cosmic chugger from Soft Machine “Soft Space” (unfortunately I can’t find anyone that’s posted this on Youtube at 33rpm)

Journey to the centre of the Sun (Stallions Remix) by Sombrero Galaxy. Played at 33, or very pitched down by Andi Hanley on BiS some years back.
Sounded ace one spring morning, driving to work with the sun coming up.

Aphex Twin Girl/Boy song. I always preferred it at 33rpm and I even ripped it that way complete with Windows Movie Maker FX

One I’ve found in the last year or so is Donna Summer’s - Sunset People 12", played at 33 +2 (get you approx 106 bpm), sounds like a Supermax (love that group) style drag queen vocal over a swirling chugging sleazy beat.

I’ve played the instumental of this a few times to good effect at 33 +a bit, you get some nice Barry White vocal and lovely clanking piano keys.

Years ago someone did a 33rpm edit of ‘coming on strong’ by Carolyn Crawford called ‘coming on slow’ that I thought was AMAZING.
When I bought this i thought it was supposed to be played at 45 so kept playing it like that for a couple of months, until it left my gig bag. Years later I realised it was meant to be slow and dubby.
