Just got a promo for the LP and it’s sounding nice - he’s a dependable producer.
I think this will be up a lot of people’s street in these parts:
Jazz juiced blue eyed soul flirts with psychedelic singer songwriting on this yacht rock fusion ride steered by genial host Guma and a fine selection of feathered musical friends from the Austin area. A most agreeable listen via Big Ego Records.
Choosing The Slow Music Movement’s recommendation of the day over my morning coffee is usually an impulsive & visceral decision. Waking up & being reminded of the horrors in Ukraine & of war returning to Europe has sent me to the soothing, contemplative, though perhaps unfortunately titled new release from Lynn Avery & Cole Pulice on Moon Glyph. It’s a wonderfully gentle & palliative slice of spiritual jazz & neoclassical graced ambient music, that is really hitting the spot today.
Hitting the spot this morning!
All sorts of Balearic & classic chillout nuggets on this one:
*** Full disclosure *** I do have a soft spot for Test Card as his Super 8 Sunset EP launched The Slow Music Movement’s label, so it’s great to hear the verdant, guitar enriched, hot off the vinyl press, psilocybin abundant synthscapes from his new LP vibrating, heartening, inspiring & calming their way around the world.
just been listening to this, really nice stuff.
also had a listen to the new huerco s album, some really nice bits on that.
This EP is hitting the spot right now. Lush productions made for warm nights.
Love this release so much. Out on 4th May.
Ease your way into the week with Am Shhara’s wonderful debut LP for Muzan Editions as she immediately cements herself into the world of Japanese ambient music with a soothing yet never insipid Gaudiesque ambient mosaic of becalmed synths & life’s surface noise, peppered with healing crystalline tones.
The 2022 release schedule is really cooking now, so here’s afew recent faves:
With instruments set to vibe Ilhan Ersahin, Dave Harrington & Kenny Wollesen set about evoking all sort of altered states, late night faces & off the beaten track places with their pleasingly hazy & hypnotic, free wheeling jazz & multi-genre appropriation for Nublu Records.
Quite a debut LP from Damian Dalla Torre for Squama Recordings as he leads 19 other musicians with his tenor sax & subtle electronic conducting to an orchestral nujazz meets cultured cinematic chillout hot spring & leaves a welcome sign post so we can all now soak & luxuriate in its therapeutic waters.
When dancefloor producers go ambient it usually doesn’t end well, so it’s perhaps best Walton stopped short of the full horizontal, peppering his distant galaxy gazing soundscapes with some leftover beats and sway worthy sounds on this excellent album for Lith Dolina.
New music has landed from Cool Maritime, a favourite producer of mine. His last album and subsequent poetry project, Big Lunch, offered really bright, lush synth productions and the new one looks set to continue the trend.
This is rhythmic ambient gem!
Evoking all manner of places: inner, outer, exotic, familial, earthly & celestial the new dub alluding, jazz flecked, lightly percussive, heavily ambient LP from Carmen Villain for Smalltown Supersound is her finest LP yet, & she was pretty amazing to start with.
If you’re looking for a music related donation opportunity to help the growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine then look no further than Home Normal ambient A-list compilation that’s raising money for children’s charity UNICEF & get a great Sunday suitable listen in return.
Ooo, that sounds right up my street - nice one
New record from John Carroll Kirby incoming!
