What's Your Business? - Keep It Local

I’ve been furlouged (luckily) most of the past year, so I jumped straight on my passion/obsession which is music in all sort of forms, I’ve been doing loads of editing or mixing for some friends and try to produce somenthing decent.
I really would like to find a job in this kind of area but really struggling, if someone got some advices!
I also got really hooked on the idea of building speakers as I study electric and Electronic industries plus sound engineering.

Out of topic, in the meantime to try to keep my sanity I’m helping with this

yes he’s a photographer, Adrian Turner. Semi-retired (I’d say) but still shooting.

Hi! Just joined the forum excited to get stuck in…

I’m a designer at a design studio doing branding / books etc. but I do more music / culture based projects on the side which you can see here: https://studiojgd.com/

Just did the branding / website for a new music PR company called The Light, working on a music-adjacent clothing company at the moment which will hopefully come out later this year.

Always open to new projects if anyones keen

After recently being made redundant (twice, ffs) I decided to go it alone as a contractor.

Have worked in advertising agencies and digital places.
Not the talented one, but the emotionally intelligent “bringing people together” one.
Getting teams together, make amazing things and have the clients pay for it all is a craft in itself.

That’s what I tell myself.

Anyway.

After being rudely nudged into starting my own company, I have loads of questions about taxes and company bank cards.

My accountant is a born again Christian and seems to be constantly busy.
If anyone has experience of having their own Ltd I’d love the chance to ask some questions!

One of my business partners Paul (we originally met whilst contracting) recently wrote this post on the subject which could well be useful

Freelancing and contracting in the UK

I set up a little record shop in a back yard in Hamburg about 5 years ago (yeah pandemic). It’s still a bit under the radar but ticks along and very happy to supply great used records, to those that take the time to find the place. Honey Bucket Records

Saw your UAL work when it came out, great stuff!

Great idea,
I have been pleasantly surprised finding out what people do here.

I’m an artist/art director exhibiting in galleries but also working for lifestyle music brands. Have been running the studio for a long time… Moved out of East London a while ago, the majority of work from a foundation of a music/fashion background.

Very multidisciplinary (a totally vague description which I should at some point refine…) working across the arts, fashion, audio and design.

A few weeks ago The Wellcome Collection in London acquired some of my pieces for their permanent collection (including a film with Paul Haslinger (Tangerine Dream) and digitised dubplates.

Have worked on collaborations including Carl Craig, Paris Saint Germain, Clown skateboards, Horace Andy and Comme Des Garcons, and a few people who have turned up on this forum

Have just recently made my ‘BLACK GOLD’ artwork series, all based around Vinyl/Djing, available from my website Sunil Pawar Studio Outlet — Sunil Pawar
