Had forgotten about that. Played it to death when it came out. The album has some great stuff on it!
Me too…my copy is battered!
So is mine!
A nice mint (and cheap) copy of this Labi Siffre – It Must Be Love – Vinyl (7", 45 RPM + 3 more), 1972 [r5648737] | Discogs
In other news, met a guy last week who owns a listening bar, and who has an outstanding collection that covers all bases, etc. and I asked him how he found most of his music having never really left the Maine area. I think the furthest he said he’d ever been in his life was Philadelphia - he’s in his 50’s - so that was kind of amazing in itself especially as his wife and kids are very well-traveled. He just has no desire and said he can never leave his bar and restaurants.
Anyway, his answer was he looks for a record he likes on Discogs, then sees if the seller has a large collection and he’ll message the person and say put together a $250 mystery box of records for him. A bit risky but if you met the guy you’ll see how trusting and unbothered he is.
Apparently, he’s done it over 50 times in the last 3 years and said he’s only ever gotten a record he’s already previously owned twice. He also buys new releases on his own, so he’s not just crowd sourcing music, but its a fascinating way to build up a collection for his bar and himself. Said some people will send him 2 records, and some will send him 30. The most he got was 125 from a seller named Lewis Dene who some of you may recognize.
Anyway, I found it fascinating. He was listening to the Ironisides record on Colemine while telling me this so it was an hour well-spent.
Not sure I could do it.
@Joe put me onto this from his Mareh set.
Rhythm & Sound with The Artists back available on vinyl, been after it for years. Such a great album.
Picked up this beauty, thanks for all who recommended. Also snagged a copy of ‘With the Artists’ from Juno thanks @Sam_C for the heads up!
Love the cover art so much - a wonderful album as well. I want to collect all his work and thought this was a good place to start.
Did the artwork himself.
Went to a record fair here in Bristol and bought these two of Steve Davis (the snooker player). Everything was half price so this came to £16.00.
I’ve bought a few amazing records off him at fairs over the last couple of years. Lovely bloke too.
Probably one of the best DJ’s ive seen at cueing up a record!
Sucker for the rave dub vibes on this. Not out for a few weeks though.
And a special treat: managed to order a dubplate from a small batch from Island Times Deejay
