Yeh phonica. I didnt even think to check bandcamp
Ta, probably cheaper there if you can collect but only just!
https://www.malmoinre.se is another option without bandcamp fees for the label. They have also a nice limited t-shirt with design from Ivar.
weāve all seen the charlie brown āwhen iām feeling low i buy some new recordsā panel, and i must be feeling a little low because iāve been buying a lot of records. hereās whatās new (to me):
https://www.discogs.com/release/29001877-Makushin-Move-Into-The-Luminous
blackford hill. great label.
https://www.discogs.com/release/31898269-Various-Virtual-Dreams-II-Ambient-Explorations-In-The-House-Techno-Age-Japan-1993-1999
didnāt buy the first one, because i had a lot of stuff on it and it was a little redundant. this one, i donāt have ANY of it. very good stuff.
https://www.discogs.com/release/32200752-Dead-Sound-Into-The-Void
iām not sure that itās more than the sum of itās parts yet, but i could see myself really loving it in a few months/years time.
https://www.discogs.com/release/12031126-Sorcerer-Neon-Leon
great record, great era.
https://www.discogs.com/release/26596388-Steve-Gunn-David-Moore-Reflections-Vol-1-Let-The-Moon-Be-A-Planet
more of that stuff. the stuff that i like. i could probably build a hell of a mix series just around this meld of cosmic wanderer guitar stuff.
https://www.discogs.com/release/371962-Peter-Mergener-Michael-Weisser-Phancyful-Fire
thereās a number of labels i always expected an infinite surplus of (like ECM, for instance) and innovative communication was like that. should have bought more when i had the chance.
https://www.discogs.com/release/74070-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moog-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moog-IV
good FAX stuff - i try to buy it on wax when i can (as long as itās not that weird shitty hardcore, but even those have some good beatless b-sides here and there).
https://www.discogs.com/release/723665-Chapterhouse-Shes-A-Vision-Dont-Look-Now
i get the feeling that chapterhouse was kind of a shoegaze also-ran from a UK perspective, but i always loved emā - and i appreciated that they fucked with some clever techno folks at the time (ride would have neverā¦)
https://www.discogs.com/release/104218-The-Solid-Doctor-Losing-Patients-Volume-Three
good olā steve cobby. super dependable.
https://www.discogs.com/release/7475-Aurra-Make-Up-Your-Mind
ohio disco boogie funk, oh yes.
https://www.discogs.com/release/189936-Robert-Palmer-Pride
kind of a corny song, but the dub slays.
https://www.discogs.com/release/185791-Erasure-Star
i used to actively dislike erasure, the vocals are always a lilā too chickenhawk for my tastes. but iāve started buying up their records when i see them because they always sound massive, and a lot of the tracks grow on me. though iāll admit, i donāt really ever need to hear āoh lamourā or āsometimesā again.
https://www.discogs.com/release/72151-The-Higher-Intelligence-Agency-Freefloater
not cheap, but in NM condition and sometimes you just need to treat yourself. one of those i had every intention of buying when it first came out, but it never happened, for whatever reason.
The dubs on this are also great in an atypical Colón style.
Thanks Piers, never heard this before. Another great tune!
Ooh love this. Immediate buy. Thanks!
thanks, I already purchased through bandcamp but this could have saved me a little!
Virtual dreams 2 looks ace
Big fan of this record!
Replying to my own post but just found this article about Yvonne Turner, the producer of Set Fire to It:
Nice choices there. The H.I.A. lp totally passed me by at the time, although i did buy Colourform when that came out. I happened to find a nice copy of Freefloater a couple of years ago for a very reasonable Ā£20. āBeyondā was an excellent little label.
Looks like there was a big gap. I bought this on his Bandcamp a while back (probably via a TP recommendation)
Higher Intelligence Agency ā Discatron ā Vinyl (12", 33 ā
RPM), 2020 [r16175815] | Discogs
Just went to play Freefloater but canāt see it. I did find this near to Virtual Dreams vol1 which fits nicely so thats whats playing now! Pentatonik ā Autonomous: Series One ā Vinyl (12", 33 ā RPM), 1993 [r35909] | Discogs
Sheās still around, sheās in a facebook group i am in (i wish those groups were not on that damned site, but that is for another thread) and is still active as a dj.
Another link to her djing on her actual radio show on The Lot.
I am always pleasantly surprised at how many of these old legends are still active and killing it.
https://www.discogs.com/release/8826482-Colder-The-Rain
the first two colder records were excellent. i saw this one on sale and decided to give it a run. not as āpopā, but still compelling. hope this guy does more, itās been a whileā¦
https://www.discogs.com/release/24465290-Au-Suisse-Au-Suisse
this is absolutely pop, and who better to do it than morgan geist and kelly polar?
Not sure if preorders count for this thread, but since I have technically parted with my money Iām including this. Just announced from Sean is an A Love From Outer Space compilation on Material Music Group. The forum wonāt let me post the Bandcamp link but itās available now for Feb delivery
Yvonne Turner produced one of the best house tracks of last year āJust Usā - championed by Francois K on his streams.
The original is an absolute classic
And the Joe Claussell remix absolutely rips as well
(just both quite pricey on Bandcamp and donāt appear to be anywhere else)
Nice. Great cover. That Claussell mix sounds lovely.
